Sporting identities who have had singles chart in the Australian Top 40:
(data from "The Book: Top 40 Research" by Jim Barnes and Stephen Scanes, 1995)

Lionel Rose released "I Thank You" in 1970. It peaked at number 12 and spent 12 weeks in the charts.
The Australian Cricket Team 1972 released "Here Come the Aussies" in 1972. It peaked at number 8 and spent 9 weeks in the charts.
Mark Jackson, credited as Jacko, released "I'm An Individaul" in 1985. It peaked at number 33 and spent 4 weeks in the charts.

No listings for Peter McKenna's "Things to Remember" (1970) or Warwick Capper's "I Only Take What's Mine" (1985).

How did Neil Kerley's Wandrin' Star go? :)

I am extremely disappointed to report that after looking for Neil Kerley's name in between Stan Kenton and Kermit the Frog, there was no listing for Kerls and his song.

Who would have thought Kerls could hold a tune. A brave man to reimagine a Lee Marvin classic with a touch of Aussie twang.

Justin Gatlin with 20.13s in the 200m semi final, fastest ever to miss out on an Olympic final. Previous fastest was 20.29s.

Australia will yet again miss out on an medal Olympic medal in men's basketball (yes, we will definitely lose to Spain). Never have we come within 20 points in a semi-final. The women had won a silver or bronze at the last 5 Olympics dating back to 1996.

Back in W.G. Grace's day, there was a lot of minor cricket played in any one season, in between all the first class games. W. G's. cricket career spanned 58 seasons, and his brother, E.M. (Edward Mills, who played one Test) played first class and second class cricket over a span of 60 seasons. These are their known stats in all levels of cricket.

| Runs | Highest | Centuries | 200s | 300s | Wickets | Most in an innings
\W.G.|101,048|400 not out|222|19|4|7,505|17-47
\E.M.|75,762|327 not out|121|19|1|11,906|16

With many second class matches played against teams with more than eleven players, it was easy to obtain more than 10 wickets in an innings.

W. G's 100th 100 was 106 for Gloucestershire vs Lancashire in 1880 (a first class game).
His 200th 100 was 141 for W. G. Grace Junior's XI vs Oundle School in 1901.
His 500th five wicket haul was 7-40 for MCC and Ground vs Nottinghamshire in 1885 (a first class game).
E. M. Grace's 100th 100 was 207* for Thornbury vs Newport in 1883.

Seasonal performances

| 1000 Runs | 2000 runs | 3000 runs | 100 Wickets | 200 wickets | 300 wickets
\W.G.|44|27|5|36|10|3
\E.M.|34|14|2|49|36|6

W.G. managed 400 wickets in one season.

Doing the double in a season

| 1000 Runs & 100 wickets | 2000 runs & 200 wickets | 3000 runs & 300 wickets
\W.G.|34|9|0
\E.M.|34|14|1

W.G. managed 3000 runs and 200 wickets on 2 occasions. He scored a century and took 5 wickets in an innings in the same match on 73 occasions (38 at first class level.)

Viewing the 1102 page book "The Chronicle of W. G.", which analyses every game W. G. ever played, it is noted that in addition to his 222 centuries, W. G. also made 479 fifties, held 1886 catches in all games, took five wickets in an innings 727 times, ten wickets in a match 202 times.

English Premier League hangovers:

Blackburn Rovers 1994/95 to 7th in 1995/96
Manchester United 2012/13 to 7th in 2013/14
Chelsea 2014/15 to 10th in 2015/16
Leicester City to ... in 2016/17

Will Leicester City have the worst ever season as a reigning EPL premier?

Currently 12/20 after 7 of 38 matches. I give them no chance of finishing top 6.

I saw a match involving Parramatta in the last few years where the scores were something ridiculous like 3-2 with only a couple of minutes left...?

I think it was a wet night against St.George/Illawarra at Kogarah from memory. Think there was a late try to someone which blew the scoreline out a little.
