I'm intimately familiar with red+black. Of his own accord, he has left the building.
Something to do with being aggrieved with the club he formerly supported.
He wants nothing to do with a club that wants anything to do with James Hird.

Sad to hear that news. We don't have many decent contributors around here, and he was obviously a major one.

Why did he choose to leave the Big Footy building instead of just leaving the Essendon building, if you see what I mean? He seemed to be quite prolific at finding stats and making posts. If he enjoyed being on Big Footy he could easily stay a member and make regular posts without having to continue supporting Essendon if he so chooses. Maybe he simply needs a gap-year to find himself.

When your username is tied so strongly to a club it is hard to extricate yourself I guess.

Perhaps he chose to create a new account ;). Unfortunately you have to choose an AFL team, I would have chosen Fitzroy if I could have.

The slightly weird thing is that there is an asterisk next to the AFL team field when you sign up, indicating that it is compulsory to nominate a team, yet there are some Big Footy users who do not have a team next to their names. Have they managed to hide it somehow?

Many many years ago, selecting a team was not compulsory. When it became so, I don't believe the rule was enforced retrospectively. I think in the early days you could choose Fitzroy, but then they removed that option and forced Fitzroy supporters to pick a side. Sure many probably chose Brisbane, but some wanted Fitzroy or nothing, and that was not an option.

I think it's pretty stupid to force all (new) users to choose a club. I'm sure many users spend a lot more time in non-AFL forums (eg. cricket, US sports, politics).

OUT 2ND BALL FOR SIX ... OR MORE

WI v ENG ODI this morning was a run-fest, lots of records broken. Gayle and Bravo gave the Windies a real chance but Bravo was dismissed for 61 in the 24th over after a stand of 176 off 17.5 overs. Out came big-hitting Shimron Hetmyer who smacked a big SIX first ball and tried to repeat the dose on his snd ball. But he was caught in the outfield.

He became the 9th player in an ODI to be dismissed for 6 off 2 deliveries. But there has been one player who went one better. Hasan Ali of Pakistan, playing against Sri Lanka in 2017 also hit his first ball over the boundary for SIX. Second ball he slogged to the outfield but was run out going for a second run.

Thus Hasan Ali is the only batsman to have been dismissed for 7 after having faced just 2 deliveries!

Keeping an eye on the English Premier League season, thought I'd check the 2nd tier of English Football. Below is since 1992/93 (ie. when the EPL started).

Having played 789 games, the NRL's Brisbane Broncos have lost by more than 30 points just 18 times.

Two of those occasions have been in the last month:
2019-04-04: Roosters d Broncos 36-4
2019-05-02: Rabbitohs d Broncos 38-6

And in their 32 seasons, the Broncos have never not won at least 10 games. They are currently 2-6.
