Just read an article on the eagles membership figures. Seems that there's still 8500 memberships available and nobody wants them. Some eagles supporters these WA people are.

I of course do not include those who have a membership or those who have a legitimate reason for not getting one.

I guess their theory is support the eagles when they are winning, and lie low when they are not, as not to get bagged by others.

But not to worry, these people will jump back on the bandwagon once the eagles start winning again.

But like once mentioned by someone on the eagles website forum, these are the kind of times that separate the real supporters from the wannabe's.

Go eagles!!!

Damn bandwagoners!!! Either get on or get the **** off! Im driving this bandwagon so theres NO getting off for me

I guess one good thing about it is that the club can now see who are their real supporters who will stick through the club with the good and bad times. I'm not leaving my seat for quids!

Did anyone hear in the paper that some guys were thrown out of a corp. box at Subiaco on Friday night - I was tempted myself to have a sit in one

I have a legitimate reason why i dont have one, and yes im admitting i dont have one. I dont have enough money to buy one and being in senior school high school with a very busy routine i dont have enough time to enjoy the benefits. As soon as i start making money and am out of high school i will get 1 though.

Ive been a member for just under a decade, and have no plans to change that fact, but I can see why people aren't renewing. Sure, there's those who are jumping off a sliding team (but all clubs have them), but there are also those fed up with the way they're treated. Add to that the rising cost, reduced value of the package and the complete feeling of helplessness watching the administration implode, and I can completely understand why people are leaving. We dont 'belong' to the footy club like the members of other clubs do, we just finance their black-tie dinners and corporate perks, and give them membership numbers to flaunt around the AFL.

I do find it a bit sad that they are trying so desperately to flog the remaining 8000 or so. Anyone see the Scotty Cummings 'interview' on Friday night? Can't they just accept the fact that they have less members this year, and start working out how to improve it for next year?

'Carn the Eagles!
'Carn the members!

Thats a good point, and maybe thats what is needed for the club to become more "fan friendly".

Just like it took a slide down the ladder for the eagles to realise that a change was needed -both on and off the field- for the club to be able to return to premiership glory rather then just make the finals. It really did piss me off when i heard the club saying that their aim for the season was just to make the finals.

Carn the eagles!!!

Eagle_Fan, what was Cummings saying on Friday night? I do agree that a lot of members feel helpless and angry that they don't have a say in the running of the club and in the decisions the club makes on behalf of it's members (appointing the coach, captain). I love how most of the WAFL club members still get to vote on these important decisions and others that their club makes during the year - almost makes me want to join up with one this year.

The reason you aint getting the members is because your fans realise that your team is one thing more than any other, SHIT!. They are total crap. They promise so much at times but then they just to back to where they belong. In a hole.

Go the Hawks

Visro, your reasons for not having a membership are exactly the same as mine. I might sound critical saying that considering what i posted to start with, but fact is when you're in yr12 attending footy matches is really low on your priority list. ohh, and the fact that i'm in victoria means that by buying a vic membership I won't have any influence on the membership numbers. will I?

I do however support the eagles in different ways, if you knew how much eagles merchandise I have in my room you would of thought that i live in the eagles footy store(slight exaggeration there)

Go Eagles!!!

P.S. by not responding to that hawk guy we'll be really pissin him off.

Well, I just became a member. Have been waiting for years and those bloudy bandwagoners were keeping me out. I too have a hugely busy schedule at senior high school. And also Work and sporting commitments but am still a member. Not blaming you for not being visro, just saying about me. Also, I live over 400kms from Subiacco Oval.

Hawkfan obvious hasn't read Blueys message about not abusing other teams in their boards, shame that your bringing other GOOD Hawthorn posters here on BigFooty down with that call.
