I was genuinely shocked when I saw he was delisted.

But you do have good depth in that position and as mentioned earlier it doesn't look like Ross rates the mature aged recruits.

As surprising as this delisting is I would be gob-smacked if he wasn't picked up by any of the bottom 4-5 teams or Carlton. Can't see the new franchise teams not selecting him though.

Lower is so overrated on this board. He has awful disposal and does not know how to play to his limitations like De Boer.

He is no less overrated than Clancee, I don't think any of Mzungu/De boer/Pearce are as secure as some people like to think. His disposal isn't nearly as bad as you make it out to be either.

Also not sure what you even mean with the bolded, to me this description appears more appplicable to Fyfe who ends up shanking most of his low percentage "around the body" kicks.

Was easily in our top 25 to 28 when fit .

Honestly, would love the club to put a statement out about him. Maybe they though his effort was below par, maybe he didn't run defensively enough? Can't think of another reason to get rid of him. The kids just aren't ready yet, and if we are relying on them come finals I think we will have a disappointing year.

Why not delist Viv Michie, put some rumours out his feet are still buggered, and then rookie him for a season. Would lower our risk with his stress fractures, which may never come good. Lower is the more useful player at this stage.

And IAMJUNGLEMUFFIN the reason everyone is shocked is cos they are actually loyal to the players. I guess you just dont give a toss?

I couldn't agree more with him, Ibbotson has never demonstrated he can perform the way Lower did last year and with Ibbo you can't even use the "potential" or "youth" cards because he is only a few months younger than Lower.

I'm not sure what's with the mentality that a mediocre half back flanker is more valuable than a genuine inside midfielder?

We seemed to manage fine without Lower last year. But Ibbotson played all season.

Yet Lower is more valuable :/

This reaction has been OTT. He was a solid, tough competitor when he got a game. But he just didn't scream out first 22 when he was a Fremantle footballer. It's not like we've delisted Fyfe or Pav. I'm more annoyed about letting Broughton go, to be honest.

A good player but nothing warranting the hyperbole its generated.

That article is interesting in how it words the Roberton thing. Was he expected at training? He isn't a 1-3 year player, so he kind of shouldn't have been there...

Agree that Lower at best would be depth next year,a number of up and coming, faster alternatives coming along and the need to find a few spots on the list for the upcoming draft(s). Also get the feeling that his repeated concussions this year may have something to do with it,the guy is like a kamakazie pilot jumping into contests head first....not much future in that

Lower always put in exceptional performances whenever he donned the purple though SA and was a match-winner twice last year. Anyone who can win 37 touches and 11 clearances against Collingwood would feel pretty stiff not to be considered at least NEAR best 22.

People who say things like "he was surplus in an area we have depth in" I can't agree with, the only players on the list who are better inside mids than him are the ones already entrenched in the 18, Fyfe, Barlow and Mundy and then sometimes De boer when he isn't playing half forward or defensive forward. Lower is clearly our next best option IMO.

Lower and Ibbo are different players and play different roles so can't be compared.Faulks and Anthony are less capable players but are on the list, why? because they're tall and play a certain position and role. Matt DeBoer and Lower is a better comparison and I know who I want in my midfield vs. delisting.
