IMO the only comparison is that they are both slow. Clancee offers way more "metres" per possession than Lower due to his kicking ability. That is the overall problem with Lower at the top level - he just doesn't have enough damage factor.

the differences between the 2 extend beyond the depth of their kicking.
yes, Pearce has it over Lower for depth of kick.
They both have good ball winning skills, but where Lower has it all over Pearce is his general football ability that is difficult to describe. His decision making is that much quicker, with Clancee's slow "football mind" causing him to get the pill, but then to be that split second slow to release or to miss the quick option. Lower has fast hands & a quick "football mind" with his best work occurring on the inside.
The loss of Lower is going to come back & bite us on the bum I reckon.

He was good in an injury plagued weak Fremantle midfield, he is slow, skills are not great with the only positive being his tackling.

Lower is worse than a depth player, he has quite a number of guys in front of him such as Suban, Mellington, Danyle Pearce, Morabito, Sheridan, Crozier, Neale, Sutcliffe as well as guys in the current 22 like Clancee Pearce and Mzungu. Imagine being the match committee and fitting all of these guys into the 22 each week.

IMO a great decision by FFC but looks like I'm in the minority that think so.

He is a depth player that only plays in the midfield (no versatility), this means he will only get a game when he is chosen to play in the midfield over 70% of the game. With Fyfe, Barlow, Mundy, de Boer, Barlow, Pearce x2, Morabito I can see that occurring and if we get a bad injury run I would rather get games into our young depth players.

I also have said that he is best 22, an that he will have a career more akin to Trent croad rather than Adam goodes. That he was not worth a top 4 pick. So what? Just because I don't believe that he is the second coming of Christ like the rest of you. And I'm confident, that my judgement of his ability is based on more than most here, I.e watching him at Harvey and peel.

But I digress.

Ok so why do Deboer and Pearce get a game? Or mzungu? who cant kick or tackle? Or fyfe for that matter? Fyfe is a different situation and not comparable with talent I know, but lower's skills I don't think are that bad. I'd say they are on par with the first two at the very least. Anyway, if we were Sydney and had of just won a flag, with incredible depth I could maybe understand it, but we still have Anthony on our list in the exact same situation ffs. I don't care if he is supposed kpp depth, he doesn't offer half the amount that lower does. I guess my point is, is that it is pointless sighting skills as a main reason when we have many other players in the same boat.

Well you might as well question the match committee's knowledge of football while you're at it. Because Mellington and Sutcliffe are the only ones from your list that got the same amount of games as him.

Those qualities are valued and as you say have been rare at freo.... But go back with Ross Lyon and St.Kilda a few years ago with the Luke Ball saga. Now there is a guy who has all those qualities you mention and then some but was discarded for nothing.

Its one thing to win the footy but another if you turn it over straight away....

Lower would be more than a handy pick up for any club in the bottom 5/6, especially if he survives deep into the draft.

I know McPhee was excellent against Geelong, but the basic stupid mistakes he made against Adelaide, for such an experienced player, really pissed me off. Hopefully, Forster, Michie, Faulks or someone else we recruit can fill his shoes.
There is a possibility that he will play for us from Melbourne like we offered to Tarrant.
