I think you will find typo more than spelling error is to blame.

Not you, man. The guy above you. You posted while I was typing, thought I could beat it without having to quote.

Just because you "Watched" Something doesn't mean you have the capacity to see anything, that depends on your skills.

Most would agree Fyfe showed he could mark balls most others would fumble and that he had a good leap on him. Was he OMFG THE NEXT BUCKLEY, no, but he showed something special about him that made you realize he had talent. Hill and Morabito were similar to Fyfe, in that they showed something special early on.

Neale, Sutcliffe, Sheridan? Not nearly as much. Everyone hopes their first round pick will be great but look at someone like Pitt... not everyone will turn into something great and someone has to be accountable for that. Just like how Fremantle chose someone like Suban over Mitch Robinson, our picks aren't going to be perfect even if you had someone like me with high IQ picking for them. Unfortunately humans aren't entirely predictable which is why choosing talent first and working on "Work ethic" is a better route than the reverse. You just need the right people at the club to _enforce_ work ethic and a standard.
Ha ha, this guys a hoot.

Might be blowing my load on this a bit early, but if Neale tracks the on the same path he showed this year, he'll be surpassing anything Lower could offer by the end of 2013 with ease. I rate him highly and I think he's a fair comparison to Nick too. Of course there is the 2nd year blues that might hit, but I'd probably take Neale in our 22 over Lower even now.

Not that I'm disagreeing with the overall gist of your post, but it's guys like Neale which are making Lower's loss far less of an issue and its why many of us aren't too broken up over it I reckon.

Well what is the off season for if not building up the kids..

Excuse the intrusion, had a very entertaining read:thumbsu: .

Anyway back on topic, I have it on good authority that we will be offering Lower one of our two vacant spots. From what I can tell reading through this thread, he will be great protection for our young players as we are now the third youngest AFL list. He is another slow player, and yep we are going to be the slowest team in the AFL. He is a typical Macca pick, loves to tackle and contest, so that would have got him over the line.

Can someone tell me if he is accident prone or just had a run of bad luck with injuries?

Thanks very much.

I don't think he's injury prone. He just had an unlucky year with a carry-over suspension from last year and then a minor soft tissue thing, and then some nasty after-effects of concussion later in the year. Combine that with the fact that the coach doesn't rate him as best 22 and the fact that our second stringers in Clancee Pearce and Tendai Mzungu, etc were doing a pretty good job, meant that he only played three games. He's pretty hard at the ball though, so, there's always a chance of suspensions and concussion or other impact injuries.

I'd have him behind Mundy, Fyfe, Stephen Hill, Danyle Pearce and Mick Barlow. Therefore he would have been fighting with Clancee Pearce, Tendai Mzungu and our youngsters for a spot in our 22. Hopefully he has better luck spueezing into yours!

The only worry is that he had complications with a concussion when playing in the WAFL.

Can see this biting us in the bum

Don't think so. Wish him all the best at the Dogs and he should get to play senior footy there. But with respect to them, the two clubs are heading in different directions at least for a couple of years and Lower was looking at a lot of WAFL footy.

The one thing I'll most likely remember Lower for was his winning goal against the Bulldogs at the Anzac Day match in 2011. Great game and now he's playing for them! Best of luck to him but I don't think it'll hurt us too much in the long running.

No problem.

Nick isn't good enough to get a game at Fremantle now.

I reckon that's debatable. He's on par with Mzungu and Clancee, but he has different strengths. Strengths which apparently aren't required at Freo under Lyon. And it's difficult to prove that Subcliffe, Neale, sheridan or Crozier are better players. Lower wouldn't have played many games, but it's harsh to say that he isn't good enough.

Agree, under a different coach he might have remained as best 22 with pearce left in the WAFL. I preferred him over Mzungu, who butchers the ball as an outside player without having the aibility to play inside, but it wasn't mzungu taking his spot. Deboer and Pearce were in his position.
