Aye, maybe Melbourne or the Giants will rookie him.

Regardless, he spent seven years on AFL lists and played 55 games. For someone never particuarly gifted, that's a good way to spend your 20s.

Shame.. he is the sort of player who could dominate the state leagues in the middle.. but yeah hopefully a team like Melbourne or GWS give him a look in.

Would have happened this year at Freo anyway, at least he got to live in Melbourne for a year.

Might get drafted to Essendon.

can only assume WB believe they have too many hard inside type players, and Lower isn't getting any younger

Dumb by them I reckon.

They've got Boyd and Cross as mature inside mids, I think they're getting rid of Cross. Can understand why they'd let go of Nick if they were planning to send Cross on his way.

They must have a lot of confidence in their depth. Feel sorry for Nick. Hope he gets picked up by another mob.

I think it just proves that our staff were right.

He barely cracked a game here under Ross and he isn't wanted at a developing bulldogs. There is obviously something that football fans don't see that the clubs do see.

Its not hard to work out ,he is slow and has crap disposal ,the two evils you cant have in todays game

Early on in the year (maybe even against us) the TV coverage had that "Lowered" thing up showing all those that had been beaten by him for the season so far including NAB. From chocolates to sheep shit.

Just doesn't fit in at the bulldogs, try have so many players of exactly his type.

Would be perfect at the Dees.

Unfortunately for him, Wallis was promoted into Lower's role as a tagger. He grabbed the opportunity and finished the season well. Unlucky for Nick. Wouldn't be surprised to see him rookied at another club again though. Cheap option for a hard bodied tagger.

From the Herald sun the following was reported:
"Lower joined the Dogs via the pre-season draft and started the season in hot form as a tagger. But the 26-year-old did not feature at AFL level after Round 14, which was the loss to Melbourne that seemed to trigger the Dogs remarkable revival. Lower then suffered a nasty concussion in the VFL and a fractured cheekbone, hampering the second half of his season."

The nasty concussion was on 27 July (in VFL) and fractured cheekbone on the 17 August (in VFL)

If I remember correctly he had some quite severe concussion issues in his two years with the Dockers (both in 2011 and a run of games out due to concussion in 2012) and there are only so many concussions a guy can take before he becomes a liability.

Very sad for Nick.
I'd welcome him back for depth, but I'd suggest he could contribute to GWS to give them a big body mid to protect some of their young guns.

No thanks. Too slow and he would suffocate the development of our young players. We don't need his type of player.Good servant of our club and I wish him well.

Never really saw much future for him at the Dogs with Cross, Boyd, Stevens, Libba, Wallis. You can only play so many of these guys in one side.

Hope he gets picked up by again if he wants to continue playing, but he might be well advised to pack it in with the multiple concussions he has had in his career.

If he cracked 50 games he is in the top half of guys who enter the system.

I'd welcome him back for depth

Assuming he would have managed very few games for us (or have taken games away from Neale, Sheriden and Sutcliffe), it would be a pretty big statement about Mitchie and co if Lower was welcomed back for depth.

Lower had the opportunity to stay on our Rookie List. If he had, he would have been primed to play in a finals series if the opportunity presented itself.

Even higher. From AFL Tables

Nick Lower, VFL/AFL: 11524th player to appear, 3570th most games played.

In the top thirty percent of all time players.

If he could get picked up again he will set a record for de-listings from clubs I reckon. This guy has had a lot of second chances.

Perhaps he could set the record for playing at an AFL club in every state - he's only got NSW and Qld to go. Seriously, liked him as a player but think the game may have passed him by, might find himself back at Norwood next year.
