Something about Lucha Underground just doesn't do it for me. It's pretty fun, matches are pretty good. Enough to keep watching.

I think I'm kind of with Cornette though, it feels more like a b-grade tv series than it does a wrestling show.
Because that's what it's trying to be. Shit is not like they hide or deny it. May not be everyone's cup of tea. That's quite OK. I appreciate they try to put something together that's consistent and rewards the viewer rather than insults them. They create their own serious environment compared to another company that frequently takes the piss out of themselves and seems to have no real idea what it's trying to do or who they are even targeting anymore.

It says a lot when the wrestling show that has a monster that eats people is seen as more respectful to their audience than the other one.

Watched it for the first time. Episode Feb 3rd.

Visually it's a real breath of fresh air. You can tell the production is done by TV people. I like the set too. You could argue the backstage/cutaways are lame (I didn't like the punching sound effects at the very start) but it's clearly not trying to be the new WWE/WCW/TNA anyway.

Jim Cornette's rant was pretty dumb. Was he one of those guys that got cleared out of WWE in the mid-90s? **** he sounds like an old man with his 'sport' shit.

I will watch again next week :)

This campaigner needs to let it go.

Maybe we'll get lucky and see him kill a guy again ;) Hopefully he's just managing. Don't want to see him doing body splashes anymore

Haven't seen it but is it supposed to be a Mexican version of Wrestling Society X? ;)
Yes and no.

Yes in the fact that the story is it's an underground fight club style wrestling promotion operating out of an abandoned building that's been repurposed to house wrestling shows.

Yes in the fact that it presents "fresher" wrestling than the TNA/WWE 5 moves of doom set up.

No, in that it's designed to be viewed as part wrestling part TV serial with most storyline progressing in highly edited and produced backstage segments that rarely break the fourth wall.
Compared to WWE where it's a wrestling show with storylines acted out in very traditional ways with the storyline being progressed via promos being cut directly at the camera.

No, in that the in ring work is very focused on the lucha style (suck it up "flippy-shit" haters) and doesn't have special effects every 3 seconds like WSX.

Women are seen as equal to the men in the promotion and can challenge the men to matches or for their titles. Even the mexican "mini" luchas make an appearance.

Understand it's not everyones cup of tea, but me personally, I think it's awesome.

Try catch episode one. Amazingly well written and staged.

The Tv series aspect of it behind the scenes and shit is terrible. I couldn't get into it, so cringeworthy.

Good to see John Morrison (Mondo?) still wrestling though. I certainly won't be watching it.

Don't take it seriously bruh.

Good no one's making you. Go post about what you will watch somewhere else.

Someone got me onto this and I've been trying to binge watch. I'm on episode 13 of the first season and I'm still trying to grasp who's supposed to be on what end of the moral spectrum.

But Dario Cueto is such a smug scumbag and that is awesome.

... The acting is like straight from Bold and the Beautiful.

Just like every other shitty foreign telenovela.

The fact that it's presented in such a different way to anything else out there should be enough to at least catch passing interest, especially if you're going to continue to whinge about raw being so bland, shit and predictable.

Luis Fernandez-Gil is still better to watch outside the ring than anything else I can watch and understand in wrestling.

I'm being reminded of Matt Hardy trying to yell at Dixie Carter in the last fortnight or so ... ugh ...
