There's no other player I can think of that we have taken in as one of our own so quickly.

His rise and standing among many Collingwood people has been extraordinary.

There is no player I think that is loved and respected more by the magpie faithful than Luke Ball for everything he has gone through and everything he has given us.

Magpie legend for life.

Was never worried about ball resigning. He seems to bleed for the club and truly enjoys collingwood as we welcomed him with open arms and in return, both helped each other in reaching the ultimate goal.

Hahahaha get in line mate!

I went to the Telstra store on Bourke St last Thursday after seeing Daisy tweet that Bally would be in store for a meet and greet. I got there nice and early and got to have a chat with him for a bit. He was a friendly, positive bloke and even, get this, signed a poster for me, saying "Yes, Morgan, I will be your best man - its an honour". I have joked with people that Bally is such a top bloke that I want him to be the best man at my wedding. And when I said this to him in jest, he laughed and signed the poster for me. Was an awesome thing that he did. He also said he hopes to be running in a month or so, and that he was happy to see Krak and Caff doing the same.

This story is just a highlight for me, and really makes me feel so proud and inspired that he is a Collingwood player. He is a genuinely good bloke, and we all wish him the absolute best on his road to return in 2013.

All Hail Bally, the great man :)

Great story, thanks morgues :thumbsu:

Typically all class / no fuss by this man.

How he's not an AFL club captain beggars belief. He's such an outstandingly well spoken man and is clearly a leader on and off the field. If Pendles wasn't being groomed for the job and Bally hadn't done his knee I think we'd all be saying Ball for skipper in '13.

I hope we all look back in a few years from now and consider Luke Ball to be a Collingwood person first and foremost. Ross Lyon did St Kilda a MASSIVE disservice and I'm stoked that Bally has re-signed.

Are you writing off Maxy for next season?

In a super positive thread about a great bloke in Ball, i am going to get a little off topic. Sorry

Maxy is seriously underrated by our fans. A superb leader and no-one would bleed more for this club. He might not be the greatest player but performs his role to perfection and without any fanfare. I know the club rates him close to irreplaceable.

I am sure you didn't mean any malice by your comment but i have to stick up for Maxy
We all know other supporters don't rate him but we sure should.

Rant over and sorry again for derailing thread.

No, sorry about that. In getting carried away with espousing Bally's unfulfilled leadership potential I unintentionally slighted Maxy. Don't blame you for sticking up for him, but rest assured I'm no Maxy hater.

I want Maxy as skipper next year too if he's fit. :thumbsu:

No worries mate. All good. I had been enjoying a few lagers with the origin on.

We are extremely lucky to have Luke ball at our club. No doubt, he was a massive piece of our premiership win, with hopefully more to come. You are right that he is a natural leader and i would say has been great help for Maxy and our leadership group.

I still get a little emotional watching bally after the premiership win. He felt so much for his old team mates and his disappointment for them seemed to overshadow his own happiness . That sums up what sort of bloke he is. Also apparently ever since his injury he has been brilliant in helping the young players. No feeling sorry for himself.

Awesome, awesome bloke and team man.
