I'll admit when I'm wrong and I have been embarrassingly wrong on Luke Ball.

The game has past him. He can't kick over a jam tin and has no bearing on the game at all. I'm now glad we didn't waste money and a pick on this has been.

So thank you Collingwood for Jurrah, Grimes and taking Ball off our hands.
Your going nowhere pretenders.

Luke will be ok for us, it's only round two so you can't make a judgment call on him just yet. As for us going nowhere, We played at our absolute worst, where you played at your best, and we still won..

Totally agree! We had to look in the record what number he is. Shame as he was an honest hard working footballer but suffer in your jocks scumbags!

When Collingwood can win a game without the umpires then come back to me. Collingwood are a team of down hill skiers who always go missing when the pressure is on and that will never change especially with your 2 boom recruits, the most overrated footballer in the AFL in Jolly, he only got a heap of hit outs because the Swans had a heap of ball ups and he won his Premiership off the bench and Ball I can piss longer than he can kick.

Good Luck making up the numbers again.

You know Ball will probably kick arse next week because you started this thread. Look at Brock, the guy is doing ok now.

They're still 2-0 whilst we are 0-2 guys and it is a long season so making calls on players is fraught with danger. However I think it is fair to say the club made the right decision regarding Ball.

Whilst he can't go on forever, James McDonald is leading and playing beautifully and with Moloney and Jones we have enough of the solid body types in a similar age bracket for now and the future. Ball would probably help us a tad today but in the future would provide nothing more compared to Moloney or Jones as Scully, Trengove, McKenzie and more take up the midfield mantle. However we are still waiting on Tapscott to get his chance - who I saw in a suit at the game and is certainly an imposing looking chap.

I wish Luke Ball all the best. I thought he was unfairly treated by the saints and the system so I'm hoping he can do well for the pies. As long as he has a quiet Queens B'day and doesn't win a flag!

Yea bitch. Listen to Rude from now on, he knows his shit.

BTW:
How is your good friend Mitch Spud Thorp going by the way WattsGoodForYou? Didnt you tell me he would be a great recruit? :o

There is no better recomendation then you own.

No need to be bitter. We are a team that has consistently made prelim finals or better this decade without a superstar (other than Buckley earlier on) or a team that anyone thinks is anywhere near good enough to win a flag, but apparently we are downhill skiers? What are Melbourne then? You don't even have any ****ing skies.

Haven't you heard, we are rather fond of the snow.

From a Melbourne point of view I'm glad we avoided Ball, I didn't see the benifit of him playing for us and had my doubts that he would bring something special to the club.

I really rate the pies. My whole family supports them so I see alot of there games and try to keep up on the team in general so I can discuss footy with them at BBQ's and what not.

I think that jolly and ball were really good pick ups and thought collingwood did an excellent job getting them both for a few draft picks in a shallow draft. The pies have been pushing deep into September for a few years now. These two will only help.

Most of us know we caught you on an off day. I just hope we catch ounout again next time we play.

Yes, it is only round 2, but Luke has been playing AFL since 2002. He's not a 17 year old. He couldn't kick last year, he can't kick this year.

You played at your worst? I think the Dee's might have had something to do with that.

No I agree, They played good, hard at it football, and I commend them for that. I didn't think they had it in them tbh, but they showed that when they get a rocket up their ass, they can do it. But we played absolutely shite and nowhere near our best. Our round one game against the Bulldogs proves that. But if you needed proof of that, you don't watch much football. Then again, supporting a crap team like Richmond would give any person a reason to lose interest very quickly in footy. Put it this way, If it was Melbourne vs Richmond on Saturday, instead of Collingwood, Melbourne would have smashed you by at least 10 goals.

The reason Collingwood played "shit" is because we BEAT you one on one and MADE you look shit.

Petterd smashed Shaw.
Grimes smashed Didak.
Junior beat Swan.
I don't know who was on Leon 'finals gun' Davis but they won convincingly too.

You only play as good as your opponent lets you.

But we played absolutely shite and nowhere near our best.

It's always the way when a good team loses/nearly loses to a lower ranked team isn't it.

'Our team played bad, if we hadda played good we'd have smashed youse guys'.

You didn't play good because, as whelan=legend said, your so called stars all got flogged by their opponents, he also forgot to mention that Jamar embarrassed Jolly and Fraser.

It is usually isn't it? Although, what's it called when you nearly lose again? Oh yeah, It's called a win. Melbourne should have won the game based on how well they played and how poor we were, no doubt, but they didn't, we did. Even though, as Whelan-legend said, our players were smashed by theirs..:thumbsu:

But at the end of the day we won you lost we have the 4 points you don't

after being at our home ground on saturday, it made me realise what a different breed you collingwood supporters are. ever seen district 9???

Ha! I was essentially in the same boat. I was sitting with a Collingwood supporting mate and in the last quarter actually asked him where Luke Ball was. It was interesting because I had the exact same experience with Brock over the last couple of years.

This might be because at the ground you're less inclined to notice the blokes getting the ball out to the wings, a role I assume Ball is playing and one McLean was rumored to be attempting ;), but this season it appears that if you can't do the grunt AND the endurance/running work, your team suffers for it.

That being said, Collingwood were in the position where, at least on paper, they had a couple of specific deficiencies (ie tap ruck since Monkhurst, clearance work since Burns). Ball might be a little one-dimensional these days (his specific skill, clearing the ball, being one of the few that imo Melbourne do not need) but personally I think by season's end he will have served his purpose.

i thought Melbourne supporters were more gracious then this. You guys played a very good game. Hard at it and good contested footy. You are on the way up, but Luke Ball was recruited to get in and under and tackle and do the 1%. Not kick 60m running goals and run like Aaron Davey.
