I'm not fussed that Madgen was a shite player, that's largely irrelevant. Its the coaching resume that's concerning. We shall see.

Coached Adelaide junior squads and has been a line coach in the AFLW.

I’d say that’s an extremely thin resume to be handed a VFL senior coaching gig. There’s better qualified coaches scattered across local footy and the Coates league here in Vic.


The club must see something there beyond his resume because it’s a head scratcher otherwise.

It’s not like he’s a senior coach of our men’s AFL program. He’s just the VFL coach. Non issue and deserves a chance

VFL is a pretty important development environment for our juniors. I wouldn't be handing it to a (basically) complete rookie. Think you're drastically undervaluing our VFL program. Normally these gigs go to State League coaches or junior coaches with a track record of success, feels like Jack jumped right over that part.

I would trust the club and believe we shouldn’t make judgement until we see how he goes. The club are more qualified then us to make that call

The key word here is Junior. Obviously he must have a reputation with development of younger players. Seeing as our list is young thats probably a big reason why he got the gig.

Ok, I accept that there may be questions around his depth of experience. But I doubt (hope) the club are giving our new draftees over to someone without strong confidence in their ability to develop them? I'll back the club at this stage...
