And the feelings mutual from me.

His commentary for the first 1.5 quarters was incredibly biased and his facts and "insights" were based on nothing. Extremely pro essendon even though at one stage we were trailing by only 6-12 points.

Could someone confirm or deny that Darcy wanted to be on the Richmond board not too many years ago and we told him to look elsewhere?

He's an imbecile of the highest order, his lack of general football knowledge is telling and he has no place in the commentary box.

I don't think Ling has much consideration for Richmond either.

As for Darcy, most people ask " Who the **** is Luke Darcy?"...Who cares what he thinks.

Quite right Bo...if Malthouses version of special comments is to bring up Collingwood players as shining examples and then refuse to criticise any of the assistants that worked with him (because it reflects on him), well why the **** bother. Get him off.
He was happy enough to assassinate Brad Miller on Sunday, can't wait to hear him do the same with a Collingwood hack. Start off with Harry O and Nick Maxwell !!!

Reality is, on the field we've done little to earn the respect of the commentating fraternity over the past 30 years.

We're going to continue to cop it until we make finals...consistently.

It annoying, but I almost like it. Love exceeding expectations vs what they say about a team like the Hawks who get pumped up massively despite under-delivering since 2008.

So does Gerard Healy. If anyone was watching On The Couch just then they will understand. Firstly rambles on about how Watson is a superstar, played a great game, stood up in crucial moments etc which is perfectly fair enough, he did play well. He also made quite a few shocking errors though.

Then he picks out a bit of vision and criticises Deledio for not handballing with his right hand. What the ****??? Plays just about his best game for the club and all Healy has to say is that he should've handballed on his other side (maybe should have, but was under extreme pressure). Just about the one mistake he made all day. Absolutely bewildering.

Exactly right. How much respect do you guys have for Freo, Bulldogs, Melbourne etc?

They might have played a couple of finals series recently but overall they have had no succes for 50 years.

Why would other people respect us? You need to earn respect. Can't be given it.

I'm still dumbfounded. Speechless. What a moronic man he is and he certainly has no expertise in today's football to be commentating and saying he is an expert. Fraud.

Deledio was rightly best on ground by some distance. I like Jobe but he is a average kick and makes worse errors than the one they highlighted by Deledio. This is why the All Australian means stuff all. It is selected by imbeciles like Healy. Just a joke.

Bit of a nothing incident to highlight, and shits me that they assumed it cost a goal. Would love to see their analysis of Maric's free kick, the stanton duck and the Jetta in the back, the hocking dropping the ball...stuff that DID cost goals.

Am I the only one that actually likes Malthouse?

Yeah he was Collingwood so we're meant to hate him but he is close to (if not) the best coach of the last 20 years. His knowledge of the game and just about every listed player is fantastic (as you'd expect). I find him really interesting to listen too and he seems to have chilled out a bit since their flag in 2010. Seems much more relaxed and likeable. Maybe it's just on radio that he comes across that way.

I dont like him very much at all, selfish prick who never had the good grace to honour an invite to a rfc premiership reunion only to turn up to a WC one a year later and the a dogs pre lim a few years after that. That kinda stuff doesnt get lost on me...i have little regard for his piffle that is never to far removed from his own feats

i'm with Bo 100%. When WCE lost a GF he bagged the players, when C lost paid out on Jason Cloke (after throwing him in a position he'd never played), even bagged Swan for last year. Never took any shared responsibility. Did the deal with Buckley then ran to the Footy Show and embarrassed himself and his club.
I might be wrong but there are too many examples that suggest he's all about MM and no one else.

Is there kicking efficiency stats for when Darcy played? At a guess it would not surprise me if he was waaaaay under 50%.

He almost never says anything original.

Just on that, it is bewildering why Lids tries to do it. It's far from the first time he's gone the left hand handball when he should've used the right. But yeah, Healy's a flog.

Best thing to do is go to the game.
No ors. Go.

But yeah, Darcy is an originality/insight-free zone who favours easy targets. He should have a seat on The Project.

Are you sure there weren't extenuating circumstances behind the no-show at the Tigers reunion? I've never heard this story but he said last year that the Tigers was the only club that he still felt like he belonged despite spending more time at both WC + Collingwood.

I don't mind his commentary. There is much worse on offer out there.

Also think he would be a pretty handy addition to our footy dept especially now that Hardwick is locked away as coach but don't see it happening.

The thing with Darcy is, it's not just Richmond supporters that can't stand him. Pretty much despised all round by everyone for his smug attitude, his cliche-driven agenda and his lack of anything remotely original or insightful.
For all the crap that Lloyd cops, he's actually not too bad once you get over the fact who he played for.
Worst commenator is Brian Taylor without a doubt. If you want a reall anti-Richmond agenda, look nofurther. Also, he makes the most mistakes of any commentator. Gets players names wrong, mixes players up, harps on about umpiring decisions more than the game (and then gets proven wrong 99% of the time with the replay anyway), is condescending towards his fellow commentators (did anyone see the way he treated Richo when poor old Richo was trying to explain the tall goalposts thing?) and treats viewers like idiots by trying to pretend teams that are 50 points down in the last quarter still have a chance of winning. The guy is a cretin and a boofhead. Why is he actually popular or have people started to actually see this idiot for what he is?
Gerard Healy knows his stuff, but unfortunately his delivery is so arrogant, it gets lost in transit.
Tony Shaw seemingly has the IQ of a gnat. You want cliches and stereotypes because a commentator is too dumb to form an opinion for himself? Look no further than this complete tool.
Dwayne Russell is a dickbag.
Tim Watson is a clueless fool, whose knowledge extends as far as AFL (and even then he makes stuff up) and has no clue about any other sport in the world and actually treats every other sport like it is inferior (hey, you're SPORTS presenter idiot). Andrew Maher is a douche. Turned off SEN between 6am and 9am two years ago because of these two twats.
For all the bagging Eddie McGuire gets, he's actually not that bad a commentator. I enjoy his work. I just hate him when he wears the Collingwood president's hat.
For all the bagging Robbo cops, he's a big larrikin like any of us. I love his passion for the game and how it translates into 'you and I' speak. He's a just a passionate footy fan and doesn't try to hide it.
I know all of these people aren't match-day commentators by the way. Mark Stevens' deadpan mono-syllable voice turns me off. Just how many Bulldogs' articles can you write Mark without it at least looking like you don't realise there are 17 other clubs in the comp? You can't take the Shepp out of the boy. Stevo played a grand total of 10 games of footy in his life, all for Shepp High and he was absolutely hopeless to the point of being scared. I know you don't have to have played footy at a high level to have a valid opinion, but...

The problem is, so many "experts" are paid to to comment on football that the talent pool has been badly deluted. The media needs a ruthless round of delistings. They seem to think they can end peoples careers with the stroke of the keyborad, what about their so called talent.

His response at the time was he was a collingwood person, time for that after football, funny how he didnt maintain same resolve a year later for WC or bullies pre lim anniversary both whilenstill at collingwood, it was an undignified slap of the RFC

BT. Called Edwards, Miller then Miller picked it up, got it to Edwards...and carried on like nothing happened...how about him calling Dusty, Fletcher? ffs, running thru the guts.
Don't mind Healy. See what you mean but I can get past the arrogance and he makes sense to me. Russell is a joke, very tabloid on radio (if that makes sense) eg would do talkback on Fevola every day if he could.
Next time you hear Shaw listen closely, he can't finish one sentence before he starts another one. When on with Caro can change his mind mid discussion, because he does zero research and is exposed just about every week.
Eddie, sorry, but a NO from me. Maybe can't see past Coll but I still argue that it's the point. The Collingwood president should not be calling, commentating, offering opinion about opposition teams. It's just not right.
With you on Robbo. Has an opinion and it's clear he's passionate about what he does.
