Everyone just attacks Drummond for the sake of attacking Drummond on this board but FFS he has a point.
What has this bloke shown in his stellar career at the Adelaide Crows to suggest he's going to be a positive impact at AFL level anytime soon? I still question what this bloke did to warrant a position on our list ahead of one Jason Torney.
Forget past history, what standout quality has he even displayed over the preseason to suggest that he's no longer a squib and will actually contest to a level required to play AFL?
NOTHING! NONE! NIL! NADA!
It's not because he's the most physically ready because Bryce Campbell ticks those boxes, it's not because he's harder at the contest or a player who shuts down opponents because I fear the majority of the eagles would snap Luke like a twig and I doubt it's because he can go forward and score goals because if we brought Ivan in then Tippett would be the permanent FF meaning more goalscoring power. So what is it?
The bloke can go forward and kick a couple? Yay! and while his direct opponent is off racking up countless stats unopposed, maybe Luke could just park himself in the goalsquare or hide at the back of the pack hoping the ball falls his way. That'll win us the game!
Take off your wah wah I hate Drummond hats and look at the bigger picture at hand: Jericho is soft, Jericho doesn't chase, Jericho has no ticker and in the 6 seasons Jericho has occupied a spot on our list his greatest contribution was arguably against Carlton, the worst team in the AFL. On this day he looked ok. In his entire time on our list the best he has looked is OK (albeit against the worst side in the comp) That's not a player who cuts it for me.
I'm not one to normally write off players but this bloke is as gutless as they come and the sooner he's off our list the better. I even kinda hope he makes me eat my words and I swallow the greatest serve of humble pie known to man, heck he has all the attributes to make it as a footballer. But I'd rather have 100 Mark Bickleys than 1 of Luke Jericho.
Out: Jericho (Worst player on any AFL list)

I think that Drummond should apply to the AFC for the jobs of: Head Coach, defense, center and forward coach, chairman of selectors and chief talent spotter. By the sound of it, he can do all these jobs by himself. But wait, there is more.... He is a real FIGJAM. He can be man that gets rid of all the dead wood, useless players in the team.
Nobody polarizes Crows supporters more than Luke Jericho. Nobody.
I'm unashamedly not a fan of Jericho at all, and basically agree with Drummond that I would not have picked him for this game.
Having said that I'd like to put up a proposition.
IF Jericho puts in 100% like every other player and plays well then even the most passionate Jericho hater will acknowledge that and give him the credit that he deserves.
Even though I don't rate him I will look at his game objectively and dispassionately and comment accordingly.
HOWEVER
Equally I want the Luke Jericho supporters (who coveniently have to date overlooked the one hand attempts to mark or tackle, the half-hearted attempts to get the ball or chase an opposition player who has the ball) to come out and acknowledge that Jericho let the team down IF he is guilty of these faults again on Saturday rather than the usual defence of the indefensible.
Is it a deal???
Jericho's contract ends this year, that's why he wasn't gone last year. lifesaver for him, seeing he didn't prove his worth last year. i'm not a huge fan of his work, but i hope he does well and kicks a bag of goals, and tackles hard!!! and sticks marks.I think it's a joke he's on the List, but seeing as he is listed, then obviously you'd expect him to play a game or two.
Again - delisting Torney and keeping Jericho blew my mind. Jericho would want to show something this weekend, or it'll be it I'd think.
Mate I clarified that the kid has talent. Oodles of it in fact. I want him to make me a laughing stock, I'm waiting for him to crack egg all over my face, it just never happens.
Don't see what the big deal is. Jericho was a bit of a suprise selection, however, this then lets Edwards Goodwin and even Macca to run Midfield is we get in strife. Im not the biggest fan of Jericho, but if he's been on the crows list for as long as he's been, then now is the time to prove his worth.
He's also a nice chap, had a chat to him at the Crows-Bulldogs game last week, got his autograph![]()
i also got his autograph, when he came into the pharmacy before his hernia operation. He's also a nice chap, had a chat to him at the Crows-Bulldogs game last week, got his autograph![]()
Great post. Its what annoys me about him too. I hope Luke watches Braveheart before the game and goes in bloody hard too prove everyone on here wrong. A courageous mark or two and a VBlike attack on the ball will do more for my belief in him than 5 soft goals could. For the people questioning why we kept him and not Torney its obviously he had another year on his contract and the fact that if he does come good we have a bloke for another 7 years. I hope Luke has a huge one and an even bigger yearThat's the crux of it right there. It hasn't happened yet. It's not that we don't want him to succeed. Of COURSE we do. I want him to go out there and play like a guy in his 6th year, fighting for his spot on the list.
The problem is that he's been in this position for years now and has not improved the areas that have always held him back - the key one being heart. We're not asking for every player to throw their body into every contest and come away with 15 hard ball gets every match. I'm happy for Luke to be a reciever. We're asking for every player to do the basics - chase, attack the ball and the man, commit themselves to contests, 2nd, 3rd, 4th efforts. Play with passion. In 1 game at AFL level David Mackay, built like a twig, showed more of that passion than Jericho has in his entire career. It's at the stage where we dread his selection because we know he hasn't changed.
We want him to, but it's impossible for all of us to be blindly optimistic about it.
The ONLY reason I can think off as to why Jericho was selected was because he can play FF, Wing, or HBF ....thus giving Craig more flexibility than Campbell ......but it still grates

Heres the thing... who's the great determiner of how well hes played, and how much hes putting in?
Jericho has become an obsession for this board, to the point that no matter how he plays there will be the same hysterical wank fest about how 'soft' he is... delievered through keyboard of course. Id love for you to tell me how i can determine if a guy gives 100% or not, as opposed to someone giving 90%
Thats not what the AFC needs right now, we need to learn the exist without these players we need to develope a new midfeild and against other teams quality midfeilds.
But would we rather sacrafice 4 points and another loss to the Eagles?
Personally i dont care how we win just as long as we end this unfortunate chain of losses against them.
His flexibility. He can play all 3 positions equally as bad.

But isn't that the whole point. He's played poorly in so many games why does he keep getting considered. Its not its though we are talking about a great or even good player whose form has wavered. He has shown little from day one and shows the same pretty much in every game he plays.
When you are in the process of redeveloping your list you sacrifice for the future![]()
