Luke Jericho Recalled- Why?!!!

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

Ive always wondered if this is a urban myth or not so ill ask it here. I think it was 2 years ago. The rumor around town is that Jericho was named but turned up to the training rooms only 20 mins before the game was about to start as he was running late with car troubles and eventually took a cab to the game. What made it even funnier is that he had a can of Red Bull in his hand and when the coaches asked "Where did ya get that from", he told them he stopped off and got one.

True or False

lol where'd you hear that one? wouldn't surprise me from what i know of him..

played pretty well today I thought.

Yep I thought Jezz was quite good today. His disposal wasnt 100% but he attacked the contest and found plenty of space to work in. Got a goal too which was nice to see and could have had a couple more.

Deserves to hold his spot for next week, besides I dont think we have anyone fit to come in, Knighter perhaps ??

played pretty well today I thought.

I'll take a slice of that.

I was happy with his contribution today and if he played like that every week there wouldn't be the controversy that there has been.

The next thing we need to see from Luke is a similar performance in a very tight game, but that's for another day.

Today he contributed.

As good as he was today, he still didn't work hard enough when he didn't have the ball. However, I would like to see him stay in for a couple of weeks so we can end the argument one way or another.

It could be next week. The pressure will be on from the first ball up but perhaps Choco will let him have the space that Worsfold did today.

If he puts in another display like he did this arvo against the Power next week I will be happy. Does nee to lift a little when he doesnt have the ball but he did chase a little more today.

Should hold his spot IMO

Just remember it's easy to look good in a team which wins by so much. He will play next week and that's when we will know how good he is, if he stands up then... he deserves praise.

Whilst I believe he does deserve some praise for his efforts today I tend to agree. If he stands up next week and has his 15 possies, kicks a goal or two and puts on decent defensive pressure against a team who will come at us from ball one then good on him.

We have said this many times before so its probably lost meaning but next week IS the defining game of Luke Jericho's career.

as I posted earlier in the week, Luke will never be a 30 touches per game player, however, as long as he picks up his 15-20 touches and kicks a goal or two per game, than he would of played his role and he did that today. :thumbsu: :thumbsu:

earlier in the week I also posted, I would like to see NC start Luke on the wing to get him involved early prior to pushing him forward, NC did this today and it worked :thumbsu: :thumbsu:

Humble pie because of one game? Give me a break.

Overall I thought he played pretty well. He was good on the wing but average up forward. He looked much better on the wing being allowed some freedom but as a forward he lacked intensity and didn't look like having an impact.

Very fair assesment drummond, great to see you can be objective and judge the player and not the personality :)

Will be very interested to see if he can step up next week in what should be a game played at a much higher ascendancy and far more physical pressure than the Eagles showed today. Hope for his sake he does well.

"the fact of the matter is that he is NOT good enough."
"I can’t believe he’s being persisted with."
"All I can say is this better be the last time he’s named in our side."
"with a joke of a coach at the helm "

then
"'Overall I thought he played pretty well"

So will you get off his case enough to see if he can back it up next week or concede that actually he WAS good enough today and that your agenda filled rant against Jericho and Craig was unjustified?.

He played better than I expected but I thought he was supposed to have good leg speed and acceleration?! Only showed it a few times on the lead. He needs to work on his defensive pressure.. Still good to see him be a good link man. If he holds to his spot for 4-5 weeks it will be impressive. I think Gill can do the same job but more effectively, but as we all know he has injury concerns at the moment.

Im with Drummond - One good game (against meagre opposition) means we should all be eating humble pie ?

I thought he still wasn't as hard at the contest as he should have been but nonetheless a better effort than what I was expecting.

All in all, I don't think we needed him and still would have preferred Bryce Campbell, but I guess we all have the benefit of hindsight.

I thought Luke played ok today. 12+ possessions and a goal coming off the bench and being played mostly in the forward line. He actually put his body on the line a few times and worked hard off the ball to end up with the possession. You'd be pretty happy with that for most blokes coming off the bench. No question he needs to keep doing it week in week out but really thought he was pretty good today. Now he needs to keep it up. Drfnitely earned his spot for next week.

He played serviceable but Im sure the Adelaide Football Club are not writing a new contract extension as we speak. Deserves to hold his spot no doubt. The jury is still out for me. The knockers 6 - The believers half a dozen

Good game, Jericho.
Still doing the things that we hate, but, importantly, not all the time, this game. Had some very good moments where he actually battled for the ball. If he can play that type of game every week, he might well have a place in our team.
He doesn't have to be the hardest man on the field, and I'm happy for him to play a loose, outside game. Just hate seeing him not commit to contests and failing to chase. He wasn't bad in this area today. Hopefully today is a turning point in his career. Well done, Lukey - KEEP IT UP! :thumbsu:

Love fifteen:p
game and set. Match will tell at end of year. Drummond.FOOOOOOL.:D At least have some grace when eating your humble pie:pJust like your comment that Vince wasnt AFL standard.
Like another poster said Jericho isnt going to get 30 possies but he played his part well today, yet there is improvement to come ie def pressure using his speed at the right time, but did what I have been hoping to do since day one.

That sounds fair enough. Your a doubter im abeliever talk at end of year.:D:thumbsu:
How about a little credit to his forward opposition- all aust full back. Thought he showed fair courage when needed against quality opposition
