Luke Mitchell!

Hey Guys. I've been a keen reader of Big Footy for a while but after reading the rumor about Luke Mitchell doing his shoulder, I thought I'd do my bit and try to found out from my source (a mate who works at the club) how accurate it actually is. The good news it that it doesn't seem to be true. His shoulders are apparently all good and he's still set to go next year. Let's hope he goes alright. I'm really looking forward to watching this boy play!

Nice start, GF17. :thumbsu:

Just got word from Mitchell Senior, the rumours were true..............However the injury was only slight. It was to his good shoulder, but just as quickly as he did mischieve to it, it come good.

He is back training with the regular group.

Oh and by the way the rumours here saying his nickname was Dooks, is not confirmed or denied but his brother has never heard anyone call him Dooks.

Crap! I really didn't need to read this about Mitchell today. Can someone fill us in on which shoulder it is (good or bad one), what happened and what the prognosis is?

Would like to know if it's his bad shoulder, or his good one as was reported by some posters on here about a week ago.

It was just posted on TC that this injury is to his right one, just looking around now to see if that's his good one or not.

EDIT: Only thing I can find is the picture in this article which has the strapping on his left shoulder.

He wouldn't have his arm in a sling for a slightly strained shoulder

Slings aren't just for major injuries. .. they are great for immobilising arms and stopping injuries, great and small, from getting worse while promoting faster healing through rest. .. Its December, there is no value taking any risks with a young recruit, especially one that has already had similar injuries. .. Obviously it could be worse but in the absence of information why jump to conclusions?

True, no need to jump to conclusions, but you don't put slight strains in slings. It's as simple as that.

I guess it depends on what you class as a slight strain, its not that simple. .. Just because its not standard procedure for joe average doesn't mean its not a viable solution in the case of an elite sportsman. .. Simple fact is that any level of injury can benefit from immobilisation and rest at appropriate times. ..

Edit: They could even be waiting for results of a scan and treating it as worse case. .. but that wouldn't change my initial premise that slings can be used for minor injuries. ..

So I take it that the injury this time was to his "good" arm? If so, it's not great, but at least we can hope that it is a small sprain or something rather than him having re-injured the shoulder that he had surgery on.
