Sorry to cut in on your board here boys but last Saturday Luke Molan played in the WRFL Div 1 Seniors Grand Final for Spotswood vs Port Colts.

An excerpt from the newspaper article:

The Colts, with slick ball movement and a strong forward lead all day.. ..in an intense final term before Luke Molan took the mark of the game in the goal square with just a few minutes left on the clock. The Spotswood forward launched himself in front of a large pack to take a spectacular grab before kicking his third and most important goal for the match, giving his side a four point lead.

The Colts, in their fifth consecutive Grand Final appearance were unable to work the ball forward.. ..and a goal after the siren to Spotswood sharp-shooter Mark Keenan cemented the victory, with the final score 13.15.93 to 11.17.83.

I know he didn't exactly have a stellar career with your club, but he's doing wonders for another.

The WRFL is not exactly the strongest league around. Luke = Paddock football go together nicely.

The market value for that card would be around the $0.05 area. Maybe Luke's mother wanted something to remember his AFL career by, as there certainly wasn't much else.

Never played for us then couldn't get on the park in the VFL after that either. It's nice to know that he eventually got to play some football even if it was only local level.

Definitely a few harsh posters here.

Poor bastard was terribly unlucky with injuries. With the period of time that Essendon have persisted with Gumbelton, I always felt that Molan should have been given one more year. Alas, his body wasn't up to the rigours of playing AFL footy.
