Don't think anyone has ever questioned his marking ability or aggression and attack on the game, it's his brain farts that cost us big time. Missing goals in the goal square like over here last year, silly free kicks he gives away, running to the same spots and dragging his opponents to get in guys like Jack's way. Basics that he stuffs up on holds a team like us back, I'm not saying he's the only one but Bob Murphy was spot on yesterday. The good sides just do the basics right almost everytime, and that's mostly what separates them from the rest.

Luke McGuane wont be around in 12 months and should of been gone last year, Not 1 single team apart from us showed any interest in him even though he was free to walk - Tells you something doesnt it HE'S SH!T

Some of the things Ive seen this guy do that I only see in under 10 matches makes me wonder if when he gets tired oxygen stops going to his brain. Im serious on this.. he does real weird stuff..watch the Carlton game last year when he gave away 5 frees ..2 of them were most disturbing..

I'm with you Jak. How people can speak so poorly of one of our players is astonishing. Sure he isn't a gun, but he is a good person who bleeds for his team mates and the jumper. The way people some people speak you would think he was a shit human.

He played forward last year for the first time since he was drafted and adapted well to play out the season at a serviceable level. It's certainly not out of the question that he will have worked on his running patterns, game plans etc to come out this year after actually training to be a forward and shine with some much needed confidence.

Harsh description but I think the bottom line is Luke isn't good enough to take us to a flag. Just doesn't have the smarts or the skills and has been given plenty of opportunites. Playing up forward will expose even greater flaws/deficiencies. ie kicking.

Not good enough to take us to a flag is the Biggest understatement ever made. This bloke is an absolute dead beat of a player. Can only drag us down. Zero upside.

We want to drag our club out being the worst performed club in the last 30 years and yet the powers to be keep blokes like this on the list. There is a reason the Hawks win a premiership every 5 years.. They don't entertain mediocrity. Not one bit.

Yet a guy who was just converted into a fwd for a half a season is not afforded the same leniency?

Every year we see a different player either break out or fulfill a new role. I believe Luke could be one of those guys. Worst case he is good KPP depth.

Dear oh dear...the knives are out already for Lukey and the Season has yet to start...
It suprises me to learn that Lukey is 'responsible' for our teams past mediocrity/performance...their i was thinking it was a team sport...
Oh Hawthorn this...oh pies that...cats this...swannies this...
Or malthouse this...or Balmey that...sheedy this...you just keep comparing our team/personnel with other sides...and miss out on our journey..
In your eyes we will never be good enough because we are not like other premiership sides...we dont play the same successful game plan like the hawks...etc...etc...
We dont recruit the same type of good players like the hawks...we dont think like the hawks...
Thats the type of thinking that entertains mediocrity...second rate thinking...comparing ourselves to other sides and their success...your full of it...
Well i reckon at Tigerland we will win a Premiership...and soon...and you know what we will do it together...slowly and surely...OUR OWN WAY...
And Lukey will play a part...just like all the other Tiger players before him...in helping this great club to achieve that goal...another Premiership...
Lukey may not play in our next premiership side but i bet he plays a part in getting us there...

He will never be anything more then a liability to our club, id rather plonk Elton or Astbury as third tall (forget Edwards) by the end of this year we'll have our future CHF. if we persist with these halfway third tall options I fear guys like Elton will miss out on a good 40 extra games of experience, im all for our pickups but not these constant third tall has-beens.

What you've been banging on about is something that rings true for my mother's partner who's also a Richmond fan.

He still doesn't understand why McGuane wasn't delisted at the end of 2010.
He says Luke can't kick, mark, handball or anything.
In 2010, he also said the same about Shane Edwards.

I guess the same goes for Matt White, Angus Graham, Andrew Browne, Jayden Post, Tom Hislop, Cleve Hughes, Dean Polo, Adam Pattison, Daniel Jackson, Jay Schulz etc etc etc.

Mind you, Essendon have also had spuds over the years.

Jason Laycock, for example, was our Luke McGuane.
