nobody is looking at the positives, just magnifying the negatives (and most of the negatives aren't even major mistakes)

give him more game time and he'll grow in confidence.

keep in mind he's been switched back and forth from forward to defender a few times so he really hasn't had that solid position for development time like most normal teams do

Agreed we should give him another 3-4 years before writing him off, He will still only be 30 by that time

Luke McGuane is being held on to simply for insurance in 2013... Then it's gone-ski for him...nothing short of a miracle will save him - for his sake hope so but can't see it happening We now are starting to develop depth up forward in the bigs department...Jack, Tyrone, Elton, Griffiths McBean

He is a fair-weather friend. Rips it up at pre season or when we are smashing the opposition

I've never seen him win a game- or help us win a game.

in that time he'll switch back to the defence and back again about 10 times, as will astbury and griffiths.

in fact let's just have a lottery at the start of each game, you pick a position out of a hat and that is the position you get that week

Agree, I was big critic when he was down back, but since reinventing himself as a forward he hasn't put a foot wrong. On current form he is in the 22 as the third forward IMO. His marking, agility and pace make him a hard match up.

Fans love to hate McGuane, not fair based on his most recent output. I wonder, if McGuane were a state league player we'd recruited last year as an insurance forward, what would people think of him? Point is, his (forgettable) past as a defender is done with, I think he deserves a solid shot at making himself into a forward now into the future, as he was originally recruited. Seems like he's far better suited to that end of the ground.

It's almost like people want to see him fail, why? He's a tiger, get around him. Go Lukey! Kick a bag against the baggers!

i think it's mostly in Luke's hands this year. I also believe his footy future is definately on the line. Personally I wish him the very best and if he really wants to play for the RFC that he can pull an absolute ripper year out, that's more like a new beginning than the end for him. :footy:

One of the great 'mid fielders'...on it and under it...even Elmer Fudd had trouble keeping a tag on 'im...such a wascal...:p...

Should've turned left at Alberquerque though, it all turned to shit after that mistake

No we didnt but after so many years of sh!tness and dissapointment that just about no tiger supporter has any confidence in him at all - Im sure he will live upto expectations and continue as he always has

He's a tiger
Glass half empty on this occasion, He is taking the spot on the senior list of a potentially good player
I give every player a fair go and have waited, wished, wanted, dreamed that 1 day this bloke will do something - But he has done nothing but occupy a senior list and get paid very very good coin for 8 years -ENOUGH

Anybody who actually believes that Luke McGuane will become anything more than what he is , Is dreaming
Aaron Edwards,R.Petterd are already ahead of him just through ability alone.

haha kinda feel sorry for jayden, did any other teams look at him after we delisted him?

I think he was linked to Footscray at the end of 2011.

Western Bulldogs asked him to come down - He refused
Kangaroo's also asked and were told he wants to play at altona
St Kilda were also interested during trade week (so im guessing they would also of enquired)

Sadly supporters can write off a player too early in their careers, however, why do so many fans here support a player who has had eight years in the system and not been able make a substantial contribution to the RFC. How embarrassing is it watching this guy continually stuff up at crucial times. Not only his forward ****-ups last year but the number of times this clown has ran backwards in defence, twisted turned and fumbled or missed a target turned my guts. We laughed for else we'd have cried at the calamity this fool of a footballer created. Opposition supporters laughed, however, looked on RFC and us with pity. Time to shed these types who have been a blight on our club.

Are you talking about McGuane or Richo?

Seriously, the guy is there for insurance. He'll be lucky to get 5 games this year and will probably be gone at the end of the year. And who knows, he might just grab the spot and make it his own. I have no expectations but wish him good luck.

All this angst about McGuane just a waste of time. Too many people just don't like him because he's done many spaz attacks. Big deal. He's on the list and he'll be there until the end of the year. No-one is really saying he's going to be lining up at FF in round 1. It's different to when we were debating Post last year; those in favor of him thought he was hard done by. I think even those posting in his defence are not saying he's hard done by, just that he is better as a forward than a back.

Why do people keeping bringing up Post? He is gone. This discussion is about our( posters) opinion of the worth of McGuane! Pity he is not gone. I would rather of kept post for he was only at the club for four years, however, happy he has gone. Will be far more happy when McGoof has departed. Playing him will only rob a young player of valuable experience.

wow, interesting! i thought he would've had another crack

Never had his heart in it. Bit of a loner in my opinion but nice kid.

definitely seemed that way i agree, but was described as hard working and dedicated by team mates. guess if he isn't interested he isn't interested, nothing can be done.
