But there is a bright side to whats happening with luke , Maybe we might be able to flog him off to Carlton as a KPF next trade period

Christ I can only imagine what this place would be like if he started kicking bags against us. 8 years as an average defender before a move forward for positive results, to then switch to the arch enemy for free and perform against us better than hid did for us for the majority of his career. I don't think he hates us that much, though it may force us to give him more than 1 year at the end of season (assuming he has earned it).

Best Richmond player press conference I've seen.
Spoke well, humble, funny, eloquent and for example, his words on Foley were fantastic.

Don't get me wrong, I shook my head in pain when he did a couple of dumb things last week, but overall he's a fair dinkum keeper. Speccies, goals and match saving tackles. Long may it continue.

McGuane had a horrible introduction into the AFL he lost his first 12 games playing down back. Now I don't care who a player is, that has to be demoralising just look at the players from his draft. Tambling, Meyer, Pattison, Polo... he and Deledio who were the only two survivors which shows that our development was woeful and the morale at the club was crap... Now think about this he was also made to play a different position to where he got drafted and he got stuck there in a team that kept losing...

Finally he is playing in his natural position and the club has finally turned the corner... The morale is high, the development and coaching staff are elite and so are the facilities...McGuane is getting confident for the first time in his career and while people may say this and that about him being a spud (which in the past I would have completely agreed with) he is actually improving with every game. I actually believe there is no ceiling for him at the moment and he could turn into a player a lot more special than anyone expected.

His playing style is different to most players and he is goofy but maybe this is a strength and not a weakness. He could become a match-up nightmare because he can move like a mid-sized player but mark/spoil like a tall... lookout for when he kicks a bag because McGun will awaken!

outstanding marks and good set shots, has the richmond point kicking disease though. I'll take 2 goals...and look fwd to next week.
afl.com.au mark of the round if you don't mind....with kingy and luke flying for them they'll need air traffic control down there;)

Using my 500th post to predict that Lukey will kick >3 goals against the Doggies. Go Tiges! :D
Close but no cigar!:D

Very good game from Lukey today - goes well against the cellar dwellers he does - if he didn't give away three 50m penalties and cost us a goal, I might've even given him a vote!

I'll nail it with my 1000th ;)

Luke did well today and i wouldnt worry too much about those 50's. Its an absolute disgrace that rule. The murphy was even worse.

I agree but he should've known the umps were in a trigger happy mood after the first one.

Anyway - well done again Lukey - back it up against the quality sides in the coming weeks and I might just start to come around.:thumbsu::eek::thumbsu:

I said this earlier in the thread, but if McGuane plays a role for us to get us where we need to go, I was (and am) happy for him to continue getting games. If he is unable to do so, he will be replaced.

So far in 2013, he is definitely doing the former, and I am stoked for him! :D

Keep it up McGun!

Needs a Pia

I think we need to to create a special BF award.

For the guy who may be a bit old, not highly rated, often bagged, but when given a chance he just gets in, does his job and surprisingly contributes a bit more than expected.

The Pia.

Obviously, Shane Tuck won it for the first 5 years of his senior career, Miller got it his first year (hence the award name), Ivan got it last year (just from Morris), and Jake King is always right in contention. But Luke McG is the early leader for 2013.

Could be a bigger award than the Brownlow.

Played well today but still had his usual brain farts at times but a good game overall from McGoof

Next 3 weeks is what counts and we shall see if he has really developed as the foward we are all needing/wanting
7-8 goals from the next 3 games and similar marks pressure will be whats required

Still dont want him snapping for goal when getting the ball off the deck or in general play. Must give it to another player.

Now there are no Bulldog supporters around we can call it arse.

Agree with the sentiments above and he does deserve his own Pia. Like him more than Miller.

looks like Azza Edwards got locked up over celebrating being picked up by Coburg. Phil Cleary will be proud.
