Put Lukey down back again now Grimes is out for a while....:thumbsu:

bad joke

Is there a rule where you can re-recruit a delisted player? Because we all know who I think we should roll out the red carpet for and with Luke back there as well...has the comedy festival started yet? well we can give it a kick start..;)

Great effort by someone who people have dubbed 'McGone'.

He plays the forward line a little like Jay Schultz. Very un-co but effective.

He kicked 2.2 yesterday, gave one off to Grigg and could have really kicked four.

What was really pleasing was his defensive pressure inside 50. Loved a tackle, contested very well in packs and even plucked a few. Overall that was the best game McGuane's played in a long long time. It was the first time that McGuane played right in the forward line. That's where he played as a junior.

Do you think he deserves a game next week? Because if this question was asked before the match lots of people would automatically want him sacked, however, he's only 25 and certainly offers more right now than Brad Miller and Jayden Post!

Maybe I'm writing too much into one performance, but I REALLY like the way he played yesterday. McGuane's an often maligned player so I think this praise is well justified.

A brutal game, AFL. He was flying at the start of the year, in all the papers, etc etc,. Now it's like he never existed.

I always considered him handy depth and would still like to retain him on our list next year. He's still 26 and can play back and forward. I still think he has something to offer.

You are the one who is clearly not fit in the mind currently if you are unable to see the worth in retaining McGuane. At the moment, none of our young forwards can offer anything to our senior team and you want to get rid of our only depth? The only justification for getting rid of McGuane is that we bring in another key forward as a replacement.

Good call MR, I've been thinking for quite sometime that Luke will be around until he is forced out by a better option. As things are looking (currently) could easily be on our list 2014 as well.

Next year McGuane will be "beyond depth." As in, surplus to depth requirements. If we keep hanging onto players who are always going to limited on this basis, we will never see any development in our young talls. Or smalls, for that matter. I supported the recruitment of Lonergan, Edwards and Petterd at the time, and I still do to an extent. But the reason why we never see any development in our picks outside the first round is because they never get a look in. We don't have the faith to back them in. Dea, Batchelor, Helbig, Arnot, Astbury, Elton and Griffiths have all been in and out of the side at best all year because we'll only play them when the aforementioned players, plus McGuane, White etc are unavailable. Clubs see development in younger players when they are afforded an opportunity in the seniors and they grab it with both hands. It's not all about how they look at Coburg. McGuane is a list clogger.

Neither are our young kids. McGuane is the best we have at the moment. It would be silly to give away our depth so easily.

Duds are not depth.

McGuane did an alright job in the forward line for us for a couple of games. Next year though he could be very well delisted so we can see how our younger players like Griffiths and Astbury go up forward. If they both can't compete up forward we can use someone like Aaron Edwards.

We r not ready to dump mc goof.
If he is currently 1st or even to a lesser extent 2nd on our kpf pecking order, then he must be kept.
The moment our young kpf's start delivery on their "potential" in the ones, then some consideration of Luke being dropped can take place. Until then he is staying. Simple

Duds are not depth.

Your opinion of McGuane is completely irrelevant. The fact is that he is our best KPF not playing in the senior team. If that was incorrect, he would not have played more than half of the season.

You can't justify getting rid of our best depth for your own selfish reasons and opinions on McGuane.

I have no idea whether McGuane is actually any good or if he was just lucky when he played in the seniors this year. He did try hard but has been overlooked for A.Edwards who is a much worse contested mark but gets more disposals. IMO both players are in the way of any chance we have at developing Astbury & Griffiths, and going forward these types (McGuane, A.Edwards, Miller) will be in the way of Elton and McBean. I just don't understand why we have drafted 4 KPP's in the last 4 years to only have them sit in the VFL learning a different position to the one we drafted them for and not achieving anything.

Err, Because they are young and not up to it yet. They may get there but time will tell. Have high hopes for all of them but they have not exactly been tearing it up at Coburg, have they?
At present, McGuane and Edwards (A) are clearly ahead of our younger KPF. The young uns are also being played back at Coburg for a reason, no doubt. It is just part od their development IMO. They will eventually be played forward as that is what they are, forwards, and that is the time we should be passing judgement. Elton, for example, is a CHF if ever I saw one, needs to develop his body and mature a little. All were very good TAC Cup players, and up to them to produce it at a higher level.
Take tim to young KPP. Patience guys, patience. Having said that, would love to see McBean get his chance as he has been good at VFL level:)

Young KPP's don't usually tear it up in the VFL, they learn their trade in the AFL.

Can you name me one KPP player that was on an AFL list but playing in the VFL, dominated in the VFL and now are dominating in the AFL? (this is a serious question not a smartass one)

Need time to think about that and yep, accept it is not a smartass comment
