Luxford featured among the best players on three occasions throughout thirteen games this season.
He averaged 18 touches, 4 tackles, 0.75 goals per game.
Bates featured among the best on one occasion in twelve games for the season.
He averaged 13 touches, 2.5 tackles, 0.75 goals per game.
Definitely more rounded, consistent numbers for Luxford and both guys do have some versatility, particular Bates who can play up forward or down back. Bates also returned from a long stint on the sidelines so he was impressive to say the least.
Feels like we will need another small, ruggedly stopper as opposed to another explosive outside runner as we have Cockatoo, Murdoch, Gregson and Motlop already.
Came 4th,only 5.5 votes off 2nd placeWas Luxford reserves B+F or near?

The club knows best but I'm not convinced he's AFL standard.
"Nancy" doesn't appear to negative to me. Seems to be enjoying a moment of pleasure really.Oh look,it's negative Nancy

Bates had a year out with injury - i am happy to see him retained as a rookie and hope it is his turn for upgrade next year. He does have a stand out kick and has a bit of flash as well but he has to add a few more dimensions to his game yet.
I'm with you on Bates. Really stood out when I watched him at VFL games. Skilled, and is a bit cocky and arrogant to go with it, which I like to see in Geelong players. The "handbag" stuff pisses me off no end, and I don't think young Bates is ever going to have wear that one.Funny you should say this.....I suggested a Bates upgrade in another thread, and didn't get much support for the idea.....most suggesting he wasn't ready. I suggested him based on VFL reports I read that seemed to suggest he was progressing very well.
BTW.....Is Cunico a defender?...Not sure of his size and pace...but reports on him were also very promising.
Good point that. One of them would be the ability to stay on the park for an extended period without being ******ed by soft tissue injuries.

Yes Bates got a nice dose of our curse.
He did play the last 11 games with just one missed. I suspect he was rested rather than hammy as listed.
Anyway - lots to do, but a bit to work with. Getting involved more is at the top of the list - feeling confident in his body (if it happens ) could be the key to this.
Your post was the one in a million that used the word correctly... Can't expect the filter to pick up on that!Edit. I cannot believe that my post was auto censored .
I used the word "r.e.t.a.r.d.e.d." in the sense of "being held back" or "hindered".

I thought you'd used the F-bomb and wondered why so many letters ..Edit. I cannot believe that my post was auto censored .

LOL!...whatever you do 'NEVER' use that 'colourful' word it's also taboo! You'll be in hot water before you click post reply.
"Back to Bates", can he be like Ballantyne, an annoying little mongrel who'll rove packs hard and at pace. If he can he might have a senior's job afterall, because I'm not convinced the others can do it well enough.
Wouldn't mind a stirrer in the forward line like Hayden.

It's important as a small forward not to get pushed around, I reckon it was a big part of Chappy's game that made him so successful. You see it in Poppy as well as Ballantyne.
