I think its a pretty tough call to make full stop at this stage. Dont think we have seen enough of either to make definitive call and imo I think they should be in the side for different roles. I could see Kedge being very successful in NVB's current role, while also venturing forward Scott Thompson style to kick another lazy bag of 6:p Whereas I see Lyons as more of an inside/clearance specialist who can be rotated onto a half forward flank into a douglas/wright type role and be a successful part time small forward.

I agree . One of them will go at years end . There is no room for Couchy no 2, Lyons, Grigg and Kerridge in the same side. Leg speed too similar . I think Kerridge should be traded out while has some currency

Yes there is. Grigg out classes all of them by a mile so probably shouldn't be in that list anyway. That leaves you with 3 players. From what I've seen, kerridge is not exactly your inside clearance type like Lyons and Crouch. Who knows what his role will be therefore you really only have Lyons and Crouch 2 vying for the same position. Take into account it will probably be a couple of seasons before crouch is fit enough to play afl. The squad is also two midfielders down so Lyons probably has the next two seasons to try and cement a spot. If he doesn't then it shows he is probably not up to it and should be moved on.
 
Just remember injuries will likely provide opportunities for the likes of Lyons, Kerridge etc but it is up to them to cement themselves into the team

I'm in the same camp Stabby.

Fortunately for Lyons, and by extension Kerridge, Crouch Jnr is going to have to work on his tank before he is even considered for AFL selection which should provide Lyons and Kerridge with enough time and opportunities to cement their own spots.

My prediction is that Jnr will rack up the possessions in the SANFL next year (with many on BF demanding his selection), but his lack of endurance which he will need for two way running at AFL level will mean he probably won't get any meaningful run in the seniors until 2015.

It is an interesting question though, how do we fit all of the following mids into the best 22? Depending on how the team is structured you can only have 10 of the following:
Danger, Sloane, Crouch, Thommo, Douglas, NVB, MacKay, Smith, Wright, Grigg, Kerridge, Lyons, Martin, Crouch Jnr
Unless injury plays a role, there may be some unlucky guys missing out.
 
I know everyone here has a massive boner for M Crouch but maybe we could have a bit of a look at how he goes before we start dumping a guy who after 11 games is already av almost 15 poss per game, kicked 6 goals in a half and was a RS nominee :rolleyes:
 
Anyone who thinks M Crouch will just walk into our 22 are kidding themselves. He has some serious miles to run on the training track to be ready, like any draftee. The cap on rotations will also delay his debut. Lyons is ahead of M Crouch right now by a long way.
 
It will be interesting to see how things pan out in the long term given the amount of good mids we have. I wouldn't write anyone off--not Kerridge, not Lyons--either could become the next gun.
One thing is for sure that we will trade one or two in the next couple of years. Good stuff as we will be able to fill needs.

[User]Peter J[/User] , [User]Tex Appeal[/User], not sure if you guys were referring to my post, but I definitely don't think BoB will be pushing out either Lyons or Kerridge, especially not in 2014. Hence why I crossed out his name in my list of midfielders along with Martin who I unfortunately don't think will get anymore opportunities.

Even if BoB develops quickly, it is highly unlikely he will play in the seniors until 2015 which will mean he's completed two preseasons. With our reasonably strong and deep midfield, his best bet is aiming to be primed to replace Thommo when he retires.
