M.Marsh or Maxwell

He's s**t. Joe the cameraman should've spoken about Mitch.
Saying he'll never play Tests for Australia again is fairly idiotic.

A lot of players have been through what Mitch has and come out better players.

Though I suspect I'm guilty of using logic in an argument against, well...

He's a very talented player. Sorely mismanaged for some time. I have faith he'll develop and come back.

He clearly needs a few seasons at FC level. With that continuity I'd expect that record to improve.

If you can't see his talent I'd suggest you haven't seen enough of his early development through Grade and early state cricket days.

I couldn't give a toss what talent he supposedly has, whoopty do.
Promptly * off back to WA and pile on 800+ runs and cease bowling.

Do that and then get another chance. Until then I don't care what talent he apparently has, until then a selector who gives him a call up should be lined up and shot.

Do you have comprehension issues? I'm saying he should go back to WA.

There's players that are suited to different formats of the game. Travis Head for example, is best suited to T20. MMarsh and SMarsh are best suited to ODI and are capable T20 players.

Both are below average test cricketers and really aren't good enough, even with ability and quality.

Head is the new Cameron White.

Do you?

Until he ACTUALLY shows something he's s**t. It's up to him to prove that to be false not the cop out "he's quite talented"...

If he's picked in a test side again the selectors need their heads checked. Rubbish awful and horribly overrated. Done squat in 20+ tests. Henriques couldn't do any worse if given 20+ tests in fact he'd make 3 times the runs at least!

M Marsh is the new Henriques! A promising cricketer that has been in the system for years that will turnout to be a proven spud

Henriques at least hasn't been gift wrapped 20+ tests off no FC form!

I'm not a Henriques fan at all!

IMHO, the biggest problem with Mitch Marsh is the selectors.

You just can't have a guy with a FC average less than 30 batting in the top 6. Particularly in a team with a brittle top-order, prone to collapses. If we had a top-flight, keeper-batsman coming it at 6... maybe you could play Marsh at 7. Or maybe, if we had a really, really strong top order.

That's the first problem.

The second problem is that taking a guy who has minimal FC form, a track record of injuries and is absolutely clueless against spin, and sending him to the subcontinent and expecting him to perform is utter madness. Pretty much every player in world cricket today will tell you that India is the hardest of any tours. Why wasn't Marsh back in Australia, playing domestic cricket, building up form and proving himself capable of batting in the top 6? Because whenever the selectors see an all-rounder, they go full *.

Because no young all rounder has ever come back from a poor start to his career.

I think the test team is actually reaching a point where 4 specialist bowlers can get the job done. Marsh has done minimal bowling of late in the matches he has played and his replacement Maxwell has rarely bowled all season and is unlikely to do a lot of bowling in the current test IMO.

I'd advocate leaving the all rounders to the shorter formats where they are actually likely to be used. Pick 6 capable batsmen in the Test arena, Maxwell's selection is a step in the right direction because if he can keep his head screwed on he actually has the tools to be an excellent top 6 batsman

I very much doubt MMarsh will be a fraction of the player Steve Waugh was, but the idea that he couldn't possibly come back from this is ridiculous.

Very confident it won't happen. Doesn't have it at the top level. State cricketer.
