2.5k home crowds with all the excitement and novelty of their 1st season.

How long before this plastic franchise and Western United are folded?

You do realise we are in a pandemic yeah?

Besides they still get bigger crowds than NPL clubs ever did.

NSW getting 1-3 cases per day? What is the stadium capacity at? 10k?

Getting bigger crowds than an NPL club is not really an achievement. What are their crowds going to be later in the year when the novelty wears off? 1.8k? less?

Do you seriously think this club is sustainable long term? Even 7k home crowds seem a distant pipe dream

2 things.

The aleague is not going to fold either franchise. Its just not going to happen. You can see that with what's happening with newcastle and the general rhetoric that the apl has been saying. Western United also are holding up Newcastle, so they have money to survive.

Second, its the first season, there has been quite a few cases and there are new regulations that require all in attendance to wear a mask (which may have put people off attending). I don't know what the capacity of the ground is with the current capacity is due to restrictions, but the scg was cut to 25% (which is 2500 at Campletown, which means it would of been sold out or close to it).

The only pipe dream seems to be yours.

25% at campeltown would be a tiny 5k, which they were no where close to get despite it being the 2nd? Ever home game and nothing else really on

You do realise there are restrictions for live events in Sydney yeah?

You came here to whinge and bag the ALeague and made yourself look ridiculous.
Restricted to 5k capacity? Is that your point? What exactly have I said that's incredibly ridiculous, please tell?

I hate this! This modern trend with politicians that they are treated like celebraties and Rockstar's! They should never be treated as such. Politicians should never be held up on a pedestal they should always be held accountable.
She seems to forget she is the premier of a state with 5 A-League clubs let alone everything else.
She is a politician to serve, not a movie star.

Absolutely pathetic

Well you know ... there is a famous quote that "Politics is just show business for ugly people" ;)

I thought that 10,000 was considered a great crowd for A League. Considering that Melbourne gets an average of 17k at AAMI Park for all games while Sydney averages around 10K at all of its venues and other cities the crowds diminish relative to the population sizes then 10k might be a good number. Even WUFC were ecstatic with their numbers in their inaugural season last year. The Central Coast Mariners averaged 4.8k last season while even Ballarat (pop 112k) managed to pull 5,084 enthusiasts to a WUFC game in an 11,000 capacity venue. I went to the Ballarat game and the atmosphere was great and the crowd really enjoyed the game.

There are a lot of start up teams in the A League and support doesn't just build instantaneously. Every team deserves to be given a go. :thumbsupv1:

Where do you think this magical support is going to come from? These two teams only exist because some Executive at Fox Sports wanted them, there was no demand or interest from the community for them. Western United were lucky to get over 4k in their debut season, with all the novelty and hype around a brand new team... Do you think they can survive long term with those kinds of numbers?

Both locations are growth areas and are a significant distance between your inner city/suburban sides. Western are unable to settle in the preferred location due to the building of a stadium (which is a fair requirement considering the location they want to be in). On the otherhand Macarthur are dealing with the simple fact we are in a pandemic and stadium capacity for the last couple of home games has been around 25% ( the percentage of allowed capacity has been relatively high), the last 2 games were also affected by rain and thunder).

Also, Western United have an owner that is willing and able to bankroll Newcastle so I think they will be fine.

And yet still better than the NPLers.

In short, yes.
