Unbelievably sad he was actually in prison. I know he deserved it and all but what a fall from grace
Many years ago (around 2007) the company I worked for then held a national conference (week long piss up) at the Coolum Resort.

Slater was a guest speaker one afternoon and TBH, he spoke fantastically well.

He was one of may favourites cricketers in the 90's. To see how far he has fallen is incredible.

Judge Nicole Noman sentenced MacGill to a one-year-and-10-month intensive corrections order – to be served in the community – and ordered him to perform 495 hours of community service.

Seems a little harsh given other findings in the case. Not obtaining a benefit for example.

And this, I did not expect:

Judge Noman said that character references tendered by MacGill’s legal team – including one by former Australian Test captain Steve Waugh – spoke of his “exceptional skill” during his 44 Test career.

Surprisingly impersonal character reference from Waugh. Feel like anyone on this forum probably could have truthfully written the same things.
I expect they haven’t stayed in touch and have moved in very different circles for a while.
