do u guys reckon he will get the nod this round?

i reckon he should of got it back earlier in the year when he tore nth melbourne a new one

has been super consistent

i rate him the third best mid after palmer and cotchin maybe gavin urquhart but hes playing more a hbf role

absolute joke if he doesnt even get a nom but running out of time

yeh, he definetely deserves one as he has been much better than at least half of the nominees.

the thing that annoys me, is the commentators never really talk about mackay. its as if he's played 150 games and they just expect him to do everything as a gun.

probably the result of being in the same side as BV and VB.

Had a very good game today. I think he's just not someone people have heard of much. Most rising star nominations seem to occur either if the player A) gets 30+ possessions, or B) has had good games for a while and is talked up for a couple of weeks before a decent game.

He has been very good this year though. Can't wait to see if he takes that next step next year. Reminds me of a young Edwards.

McKinley kicked 7.1 goals; but he's already won one; you can't win two right?
possible winners this week could be Jarrod Harbrow, Shaun Grigg, Addam Maric or Valenti maybe.

Surely they couldn't give one to Valenti or Maric, considering the final score of that match, right?

I think the problem with Mackay is that his class doesn't show on the stats sheet. For what is effectively a first-year player, each of his possessions is worth two from most other youngsters.

I was surprised when I saw he only had the 17.

Seemed like a lot more (and I wasn't confused with the other blondes)

Everything he touches turns to gold, he is so cool under pressure, as if there is no pressure at all. Seems to have a lot of time when hes got the ball and has fantastic disposal.

An absolute Gem.

Mackay has only really had one game worthy of the nomination this season, and he had it in the bag until Fremantle caved in to the Demons, and Austin Wonaeamirri kicked 4 goals and danced his way to the nomination late on a Sunday afternoon.

Aside from that, he's been good but not great. Won't get it this week.

Will get a nomination before the end of the year. I rate him very highly, most likely player on our list get a Brownlow. So much class, that he even bamboozles himself sometimes - I'm thinking of his snap at goal in the goal square in the second half yesterday hahaha

That's an interesting hypothetical almost worthy of a poll!

For mine Vince, Porplyzia, Thompson, Dangerfield, Bock would all have a strange chance also.

Vince for mine. If he keeps improving like he seems he will do he has the potential to be one of the top players in the comp.

Agree his disposal is generally very good and he reads teh play well and will go in ahrd.

May have to work on his left foot though ( at least he has the guts to use it). Yesterday one he did was a dribbler and the other was that remarkable shot at goal that went backwards!:D

Fast running out of time. Only 3 games to go if he doesn't get the nomination this week. Has played too many games in 2008 to be eligible in 2009.

It scares me that you rate guys who haven't even played for the Crows at all yet as potential Brownlow or 300 game players. It's way too early to tell.

Our reckon our first pick in the this year's draft will be an Brownlow winning, All Australian Captain and Norm Smith Medalist.:D

The step up from SANFL to AFL is huge. Lets wait until these guys get 30 to 40 games under their belts. Not many players looks awesome before that.

I hear what you're saying but i don't think listing him in a 'hypothetical, strange chance' listing was going too far out on a limb!

Hardly engraving his name on the Brownlow just yet :D

I thought his ******ed development had almost ruled out all his elite potential, but he would be right behind MacKay for mine as well.

If he doesn't get it this week, he's a lock to smash Essendon, the Saints or the Dogs, who are bleeding worst than all the DT teams with Didak, Shaw & Porplyzia in their 22, as predicted by yours truly. Same thing happened in 2006 IIRC. Bit unlucky not to get it after the WCE, if he was in a winning side, he would have dominated.

Let alone TAC to AFL! Nonetheless, Dangerfield really is a bang or bust player. I'm predicting a Brownlow, maybe a Norm Smith or less than 50 games. Only other possibility is that the CERN atom super-collider in France will create a blackhole and end us all.

Well, Grigg got it this week. Anthony, Vez, Mayne, Dempsey & Dalziell will be Mackay's main competitors over the next few weeks for a nomination I'd say.

Valenti has had a pretty good season. I think he's ahead of Mackay unfortunately based on performances of recent.

agree. he could use a turn more of pace, but he looks like he could be a real quality 200+ game player for us.

I can certainly see 1 or 2 AA guernsey's in his future the way he's going.

Thirded. His confidence for such a young player is awesome. when half the team dicks around with it at HB hand balling sideways he is one of the few guys that looks for a long option, takes it and consistently delivers long raking passes to advantage.

I rate him more highly than a young Goodwin...

And, realistically, he's still only done one full pre-season.

Between Vince, Mackay and Van Berlo, we have the core of a potential gun midfield for another decade; throw Knights and Reilly into the mix, as well as Douglas, we could have something very special.

And that doesn't even take into account Dangerfield or Otten.

dont know about that one. To me he looks like one of the quiker players on our list. Ill never forget the instance against freo in the nab cup where he intercepted a 5 meter hand pass without the freo players realising what happened:). That being said he is a star and the only reason he hasnt got a nomination is that he hasnt had the same publicity as players like palmer
