Macrae & Stringer vs Martin & Anderson

Last year the dogs had the oppurtunity to trade picks 5 & 6 for Jed Anderson and Jack Martin. On evidence to date a little guess work going forward which 2 would you rather ?

Fwiw I think Martin and Anderson will be the best 2 out of that 4.

Martin looks like a freak but he hasn't played a game. Until we see him play a game at AFL level we will never know for sure.

From what I have seen of the three that have played, Macrae and Anderson are about even.

Stringer has the most potential. So strong and skilled at the same time. Most 18 year olds need years of bulking up to get that strength.

I haven't seen Martin play so can't comment but for me McCrae is the clear stand out of the other 3

Having only seen Martin via Youtube highlights, I'm not going to vote. But I will say the Dogs would be very happy with what they ended up with right now. Macrae looks like a nice mover and a ball magnet and like others who saw some of Stringer's games, there appears to be something special there. Anderson also impressed, but I don't think he's the level of the other three.

This trade was floated on these boards a couple of times, but nobody really though it would happen.

Also it's rather strange, as Stringer is a very different player to the other three. I'm happy with what we have, without having seen Martin play I can't make a proper call though.

Stringer has shown glimpses of being absolutely special, however Mac has been more consistent at AFL level (mostly because of his fitness, Stringer needs another pre-season).

Wouldn't trade either for any one else taken in the draft.

Just because Martin hasn't played an AFL game, it doesn't mean people haven't watched him play. Good Coast think Martin will be better than O'Meara and Anderson has shown a lot at the Hawks.

Martin will be the best of the lot by quite a margin imo (from what I've seen - hard to say without watching him at AFL level). Where I predict they'll be rated by the end of their careers:
1. Martin
2. Stringer
3. Anderson
4. Macrae
Overall though I'm very happy with our two boys. Would I have done the trade if it were available? Probably, but imo all four have bright futures and you can't be disappointed with having gained any of them.

Stringer would have less success running into Anderson.

voted McCrae and Stringer, mainly because of what Ive seen of Stringer
