Macrae & Stringer vs Martin & Anderson

Macrae and Stringer. Pick six for Anderson would have been overpaying. Another small in Ben Kennedy was a late first round pick. You need taller mids and forward/mids than smalls such as Anderson and Kennedy.

Stringer has the most potential. So strong and skilled at the same time. Most 18 year olds need years of bulking up to get that strength.

I disagree, Martin has the most potential.

Pace, aggression, height, amazing skills, endurance, will to tackle, hunger at the contest, x-factor and a brilliant contested mark.

All these qualities in spite of being a rake, similar to Fyfe in his first season. Not once has it hampered his performance against big bodied players either.

Give him a couple of seasons to settle in and build some strength and he will be an absolute force.

I have seen nothing but highlights of martin as he hasn't played an AFL game

Hard to say, Martin is probably going to be the best of the lot but how much better? i reckon Stringer + Macrae will be better than Anderson..Very tough call for us i would go Stringer + Macrae. FWIW i think Stringer could be the best of his draft and Macrae is going to be a very good player.

lets not start jumping to conclusions, while he may be rated higher than O'Meara internally the kid weighs like 50kg dripping wet whos to say he will be able to cope with the big bodies in the AFL and make the transition? His father is also crazy, his aboriginal and sometimes they struggle more with moving across the other side of the country etc. Jbomb looks to be one of the best kids I've ever seen and seems very well grounded. Martin certainly looks like an amazing proposition at the moment though and im sure the GC are wrapt as are we with Stringer/Macrae. FWIW i think O'Meara will be better than all of Martin/Stringer/Macrae and Anderson and i would take him over all of them.

Stringer - 12 possies and 2 goals
Martin - 6 possies and 1 goal

Now i still wouldn't be surprised to see Stringer or Martin turn out to be the best of the 4, Like i said last year Martin will take a while to transition due to his size and Stringer is also going to take time but dam the doggies would be happy we keept pick #5 and #6.. Fact is Macrae is currently leaps and bounds better than any of the four atm.

The Dogs didn't have a choice. They wanted the Martin+Anderson option and were trumped.

Um, no he didn't. He just showed that Martin hasn't been as good so far, but that he could still be the best.

It's pretty clear now though that Macrae+Stringer is better than Martin+Anderson. Never expected Macrae to get so good so fast and Stringer coming along very nicely recently. Not saying that Martin won't still be the best, but it will be hard for him to be as far ahead of those others as initially thought.

Yeah considering Anderson and Martin have both missed with major injuries you'd hope so.

I voted Martin and Anderson mainly because I think Anderson is going to be an absolute freak.

If I had to choose 2 to join the Lions however I would think long and hard about choosing Macrae and Stringer. They will both be 200 game players for the Doggies. Macrae is an absolute jet and Stringer has that Stevie Johnson type of x-factor. Stringer just needs a couple more AFL pre seasons to get his fitness up to scratch and he will have regular 20 possession, 5 marks, 2 goal games.

Macrae and Martin could be equal but Jed Anderson once he actually plays a bit should overtake stirnger quite quickly.
