Other Madden 19 - Offline Franchise - Fantasy Draft

Remove this Banner Ad

I recently started an offline franchise and was having some fun playing with my Lamar Jackson/Aaron Donald lead Atlanta Falcons side. But after a 3-1 start I felt, you know. Doing it from just an owners perspective and let the games simulate themselves might be fun in and of itself.

So I'll draft, I'll re-sign players, I'll go through free agency, I'll set my coaches and gameplans, but the onfield stuff will be 100% generated.

Here's the beginning. Draft time. Atlanta Falcons

and I draw pick.....5 (uneven rounds, 28 in even rounds)

1. Aaron Donald RE
2. Antonio Brown WR
3. Lamar Jackson QB

After week 3 of the pre-season, Bronson Kaufusi was the cut (I have so many bad backup qbs, I need the depth - Yeah yeah, practise squad etc. etc. but I like all 3 of them (don't like Peterman much, but he's statistically better than Boykin/Jones)

Before starting I got rid of 'pre-existing injuries' so whoever got Shazier (Chicago if you're wondering) must be happy right now

Week 1 -
Falcons-0-3-0-7--10
Eagles--7-3-0-10-20

I was quite happy with 5 sacks by my defence and keeping the Eagles to just over 200 yards passing. And winning the turnover count 1-0.
However, my offence was useless. 46 yards on the ground (and no attempt from Jackson) and just over 50% completing (18/33)

Also Lost Darren Sproles to a 3 week Abdominal Tear

Players of the week
NFC O - Jaron Brown (Vikings) - 8 rec, 207 yards, 3 TD
NFC D - Jordan Jenkins (Giants) - 8 tackles, 2 sacks
AFC O - Patrick Mahomes II (Dolphins) - 20/27, 255 yards, 5 TDs
AFC D - Korey Toomer (Chargers) - 5 tackles, 2 interceptions

Week 2 -
Panthers-7-0---0--7-14
Falcons---7-14-24-0-45

A lot better, in what will surely be an epic Lamar vs Baker rivalry, Lamar gets the upper hand early.

I wonder if playbook selection influences qb runs. 2 weeks in, 0 attempts by Lamar

Respectable 11/18 for 138 yards and 2 touchdowns today
But the running game exploded today, 38 carries for 295 yards and 4 touchdowns. 20/223/3 from GOrdon, 10/43/1 from McCoy and 8/29/0 from Austin.

Only the 1 sack this week, but Jabrill Peppers had 2 interceptions, and Manti Te'o forced and recovered a fumble

Nice to be back to 1-1 on the player of the week performances from Gordon and Peppers

Players of the week
NFC O - Melvin Gordon III (Falcons) - 20 carries, 223 yards, 3 TDs, 1 rec, 20 yards
NFC D - Jabrill Peppers (Falcons) - 5 tackles, 2 interceptions
AFC O - Aaron Rodgers (Jaguars) - 26/34, 290 yards, 3 TDs, 1 carry, 8 yards, TD
AFC D - Cody Davis (Bengals) - 4 tackles, 3 interceptions

Scouting is now available.
Ill deal with needs from next week
But this week is checking out Boise State players

QB - Ego Reynolds A- Throw power, C+ Throw acc Deep, C+ Throw on run - UNDRAFTED
HB - Ray Shaw C+ Juke Move, C+ Elusiveness, C Carrying - UNDRAFTED
WR - Junior Parker B Short Route, B Spec Catch, B- Catching - EARLY 4TH ROUNDER
WR - Russell Goodman C+ Catch in Traffic, C- Catching, D Deep Route - UNDRAFTED
TE - Ross Epps D Run Block, D Catching, D Impact Block - LATE 5TH ROUNDER
LG - Ray Reilly C+ Run Block, C+ Run Block Power, C+ Pass Block Power - UNDRAFTED

Now I'm wondering, did Boise State dominate this season?
Looking further in as I don't have enough points to scout the entire class
#4 C (projected 5th round)
#30 DT (projected undrafted)
#54 CB (projected undrafted)
#7 SS (projected 4th round)
#3 K (projected undrafted) aussiedude - About time Boise had a competent kicker :p

11 draftable players

Week 3
Saints--7-0-0-7-14
Falcons-7-7-0-6-20

3 weeks in now and still not 1 turnover. But what the hell is up with Justin Tucker. 0/1 fg, 2/3 xp today

The trend I'm noticing at the moment is I'm protecting the ball, and everything else is average.
94 yards on the ground is respectable
And I guess Antonio Brown is a good decoy. 1 catch for 21 yards while Martavis Bryant went 11 for 91 and a touchdown.

Also, Nat Peterman went perfect. 1/1 40 yards and a TD.

Players of the week
NFC O - Tyrod Taylor (Buccaneers) - 23/37, 325 yards, 4 TDs
NFC D - Manti Te'o (Falcons) - 7 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 interception
AFC O - Ben Roethlisberger (Steelers) - 28/42, 348 yards, 3TDs, 1 interception
AFC D - Justin Houston (Ravens) - 3 tackles, 3 sacks, 1 interception

Week 4
Bengals-7-7-0-10-24
Falcons-0-0-3-8--10

Had our first turnover of the season with Luke Kuechly giving Lamar Jackson his first career interception.

Overall it was just a pure s**t game from both teams. Nothing great offensively (Only 2 plays above 20 yards) but no turnovers.
A true snorefest.

Only bad news is that I lost Xavien Howard (CB) for 7 weeks for a dislocated ankle

Players of the week
NFC O - Jared Goff (Eagles) - 26/36, 369 yards, 4 TDs
NFC D - Von Miller (Saints) - 7 tackles, 3 sacks
AFC O - Derek Carr (Titans) - 36/48, 409 yards, 3 TDs
AFC D - Joe Thomas (Titans) - 9 tackles, 1 Forced Fumble, 1 Fumble Recovered, 1 TD

Week 5
Falcons--0-7-3-6-16
Steelers-7-3-3-0-13

There's just nothing great happening at the moment to even talk up a game from anybody.

All I got to look forward to now, is whether Atlanta (3-2) can stay in the divisional race as a loss to Tampa in week 6 can just about end the contest, (They're 4-0)

Week 6
Buccaneers-7-0-0-14-21
Falcons-----7-7-14-0-28

Huge win. Only half a game behind Tampa now.
And a huge NFC O Player of the week performance from Lamar Jackson!
21/31, 249 yards, 4 TDs

After 6 weeks that makes him 107/176, 1168 yards, 10 TDs, 1 Interception

Starting to scout everywhere now
Went through the draft in all positions of need (FS, LB)
Now just scouting everybody.
Strong QB class
5 QBs projected for the 1st round
Strong Armed qbs from Nebraska, Wisconsin and UCLA
West Coast qbs from Texas and Arizona State

Just simmed to the conclusion of week 9 (So I can be 8 games in and the half way point)
Def NYG 31-23
Def Was 28-7

So at the half way point of the year

AFC
1. Bengals 7-0-1
2. Texans 7-2
3. Patriots 7-2
4. Raiders 6-2
5. Browns - 6-3
6. Dolphins 6-3

NFC
1. Eagles 7-1
2. Vikings 6-1-2
3. Falcons 6-2
4. Cardinals 5-3
5. Buccaneers 6-2
6. Lions 5-2-1

4 ties in the league after 9 weeks including 2 by Minnesota

I'm just simming this now without the writeups but I did just have a good 4th quarter comeback vs Baltimore

Was down 24-7 at 3/4 time. Ended up winning 28-24

Technically 1.5 games clear of Tampa after 12 games (courtesy of the h2h tiebreaker)

Starting to reach clinch scenario.
Bengals 1 win away from clinching playoffs, the division, and if results go their way (assuming Tennessee, Houston, Oakland and San Diego all lose) they can clinch the 1st round bye after week 14

Im intrigued about the exact tiebreaker scenario at the moment
Minnesota - 8-2-2 (.750)
Atlanta - 9-3 (.750)

And I won week 16!

Entering the final game of the season

AFC
1. Bengals Z 12-2-1
2. Texans Y 11-4
3. Patriots Y 11-4
4. Chargers Y 11-4
5. Titans 9-6
6. Raiders 9-6

Still in the hunt - Dolphins 8-7, Jaguars 8-7

NFC
1. Falcons Y 12-3
2. Vikings Y 11-2-2
3. Cardinals Y 9-6
4. Eagles 9-6
5. Buccaneers X 10-5
6. Saints X 9-5-1

Still in the hunt - Giants 8-7

What a boring week 17
7 of 8 divisions clinched (and the other isn't a h2h win and you're win)
And the 4 sides fighting for the final 2 AFC Wildcard spots don't even face each other directly

Boring first week of playoffs

Raiders 14 - 35 Patriots
Buccaneers 10 - 35 Cardinals
Titans 13 - 31 Chargers
Saints 3 - 45 Eagles

Divisional Round will be

4. Chargers at 1. Bengals
4. Eagles at 1. Falcons
3. Patriots at 2. Texans
3. Cardinals at 2 Vikings

Now I'm getting bloody nervous
Chargers 21 - 28 Bengals
Eagles 14 - 28 Falcons
Patriots 28 - 24 Texans
Cardinals 27 - 24 Vikings

Means the Conference titles are Patriots at Bengals and Cardinals at Falcons
