Very good video....in short, the exclusive license is on hold pending madden sales and critical reviews. The NFL not happy with EAs efforts over the years. Not buying the game will mean most likely the NFL opens the picense to multiple studios, and it's smarter for them to do that anyway, as they can charge all those studios a fee for the license instead of just one company.

I like this guy until he said ea will pay the same amount they are paying for exclusive rights for non exclusive rights. That is the most stupid thing I have ever heard. And that ea have no bargaining power.
Look a what they did with fifa when the tried to strong arm them into a new deal they rebranded the game and struck Licensing deals with leagues not fifa. And fifa games made them a shit ton more money that madden. So what is going to stop them only making ncaa the better selling game and saying to no to nfl if its no exclusive and using that saved money for other things like trying to get back rights to nba or mlb.

Plus I honestly think there is no way nfl and nflpa will allow gaming rights to be not exclusive cos I just can't see be non-exclusive rights being able to generate the same sort of fee. And the nfl is all about money.

EA are not doing well with the FC brand tho they are regretting letting fifa license go, theyre dreaming of trying to get it back.

Anyway, the bottom line is that competition is better than monopoly. NBA 2K would be good if EA still competed with their title, and both madden and 2K football were at their best when there was competition.

2K already have the green light from the NFL to do some NFL licenses arcade games coming soon. 2K has a bunch of sports titles on the books and theyll be doing the new FIFA licensed world cup soccer game. So of course theyd want to have a proper NFL game on their books. Theyre a sporting dev studio.

A few arcade games though isn’t the same as full on nfl game thou.
It cost 100 mil to make each new nba 2k game would have to atleast double or triple that maybe more to build a nfl game from ground up that is without licensing fee from nfl then individual licensing fee for likeness for legends in myteam.
Current licenses fee is 300 mil a year if you went non exclusive they would be want atleast that from 2k and ea combined. So say with increase for non exclusive license ea and 2k each pay 200 mil a year.
2k minimum investment for first game is atleast 400 mil I reckon it’s be a lot more north of 1/2 billion dollars.

Plus madden only makes money it does cause of no competition look how ncaa football ate it the profits another would again and profits would be the same for 2k. They would have to share the market.

And people forgot one of the reasons 2k did so well originally was it was so cheap compared to madden to buy that wouldn’t be the case now.

When the nfl gave the license to ea one of the reason it didn’t pick 2k was it felt the 2k being sold so cheap made nfl devalued as being a cheap product.

The whole industry not unlike Hollywood.....producers/studios spend/invest hundreds of millions up front to make the movie, hire actors, etc, and then hope to turn a profit....sometimes films dont but the studio still has billions in the coffers, but regardless they still power ahead to make new movies. Same with game studios. But certain IPs are bound to turn a profit....NFL, FIFA, NBA.... don't worry, 2K know theyll rake the money in. There are also plenty like me who think 2k is just as bad or worst than ea when it comes to sport games. The last 2 wwe and nba are worst of the bunch they get worst each year and regret buying them way more than madden or ncaa.
I hated last nba 2k that much that I likely wouldn’t buy NFL 2k until you or another Bigfoot user said it was good.
The only decent sport games currently out there are mlb the show, ncaa and nhl. Ea makes two them atleast 2k makes none.

75% of Maddens profits each year come from microtransactions... (quick google search)

2K... focus every game mode on how to milk micro-transactions. It would be in their mission statements internally. This is Millions of dollars in free money each year. This would also keep the money flowing in all year round, considering 2k Dips in microtransaction sales its last 4 month life cycle, with the next pending release incoming.

It's a no brainer that they will want an NFL mainstream product.

I find these reviews honestly unhelpful. If you keep comparing the game to 2k nfl games the only think I end up taking away from it is you rather it to be like the old 2k games that's it.

I’ve played a couple of games on quick play and to the surprise of absolutely no one it’s the same game. Did fine rushing with my RB little bit more of a challenge and the jerseys getting dirty as the game goes on a nice touch but other then that no other changes I could see. Haven’t tried franchise yet but I will start one later on tonight to see how it is.

Exactly the same for me.
Will likely buy it but will wait till it’s on sale in a couple of months. I have been burnt too many times to pay full price for madden to ever do it again.

Have started a franchise but haven’t looked into it deeply, what I can see is they changed the strategy part of it and also think you can upgrade your playsheets by doing goals and also can decrease if you keep losing.
