I'm currently playing Mafia II after picking it up cheap at EB games for $15 (PS3) to me the game does seem like it was rushed, the graphics and driving mechanics are fine but the aiming is way off! the game teases you with the open world because there isn't much to do in it apart from driving around to and from missions. It's kinda annoying too how you have to keep going back to Vito or Joe's apartment for the next chapter to begin.

Having said all that, some of the dialog in the game is fantastic especially the banter between Joe and Vito and some conversations in the background you can ears drop in. the radio stations and the music was good even through some of the songs in the game come years later in the time period the game is set in. I've enjoyed the story so far and most of the missions, a lot of them are straight to the point no piss farting around to get to your objective which is good.

Collecting the playboy magazines was a massive plus as well hope they include that in Mafia III

Overall its no GTA that's for sure but nor is it the games intention to be so, its a fun action packed better then an average game for me and for the price I picked it up for very much worth a play through.

Hopefully Mafia 3 is expanded upon and will have more replay ability with it's sand box world. as well as a fun story to go with it.

I would have preferred a Sicilian protagonist, not sure African Americans had much to do with the mafia other than drug running.

I preferred the first over Mafia 2. That car racing bit in the first was amazing.

Mafia 2 was a bit underwhelming for me but still a solid game.

Trailer for this looks pretty good though! Maybe they'll do a bit with Vietnam at the start of the game (similar to the WW2 tutorial they had in Mafia 2).

To me the game feels like its going to be a GTA with the Mafia title, but I'm more interested in what they do with the time setting of the late 60's, it certainly was a controversial period in 20th century history, would be interesting how they tackle the issues of the time.
The direction is probably right too, we have already had two Italian Mafia games and everyone would have expected the some old some old, something different and creative is always goods.

he's not part of the Italian Mafia (or more specifically the american mafia, by the late 60's they were Cosa Nostra only in name) its the "Black Mafia Family" although i'm fairly sure the group wasn't present in new orleans in the late 60's so liberties have been taken.

I don't mind the protagonist and him being black, but when you think of Mafia you think Italian/Sicilian. I'd rather see the story focussed on that to be honest.

Wasnt the first 2 based around the italian mafia. Imagine how far you could go if the game was based around the russian mob, Would just be a game based on the movie saw hahaha

Knowing how strict aus can get with video games, probably wouldnt be allowed in the country if 1 was ever made.
