I chose Raven in the beta (sorry Weagles). Just liked the slickness of the group, the fact they have the top gear and I liked their write up the best too.

where is a write up on each faction?

i'm far to lazy to search for myself right now.....tiring day.
There's light write up's on the MAG website:
RAVEN
Based in Vienna, Austria, Raven Industries, GmBH provides specialised military services using cutting-edge equipment and advanced tactical coordination.
S.V.E.R.
S.V.E.R. is based out of Gronzy, in the Chechen Republic. Unconventional in their look and a fierce fighting style, S.V.E.R. operatives consist of former soldiers and private citizens, some with questionable backgrounds.
VALOR
Founded by former U.S. Army officers, Valor Company, Inc. offers an experienced team of veterans drawn from U.S., British, and Mexican special forces. The company is headquartered in the Alaskan wilderness

Kerrby dislikes SVER the most, so we have all decided to go with SVER.

It seems like everyone is buying it, so i'm in now.

78/100 so far on metacritic

Apparently from the 4 gamemodes only 1 has 256 players (2 have 128, last 1 only 64) but I'm a n00b and everyone probably knows this already :D. Tbh I'd probably get more gametime out of Heavy Rain than this game.

Yeah, as you level up you unlock the bigger game modes.

I think the issue (and it's not really an issue, more a longevity ploy by Zipper) is that it takes a fairly long time to level up. At level 10 I believe it is you unlock the 256 player one. Many say that if you last that long it gets really good.

You have to wonder how reviewers are reviewing this game at the moment though. The servers went online 2 days ago and it was released in America today.

Reviews around an 8/10 are really to be expected from an online game. Warhawk is only an 84/100 on Metacritic and I really loved that game.

I think the key to this game will be to wait it out until people know how to play it (just like Warhawk) that's when you'll see the tactical side come out in the game and it will be played as it should be. Whether there will still be games of 256 people though is hard to say.

I think Zipper staged something with the reviewers so they could play the game early but even that was a short session of playtime.

Game doesn't really appeal to me. I don't like the command structure and how a loser is able to tell whole factions what to do since all gamers are dbags. All factions have the same weapons aswell which is lazy by ZI since they made all this cheezy 'Post WW3' stuff up in the first place, and you'll probably need some good luck to find a local server a few months after release aswell. I'll be sticking to the CoDs.

I like that - 256 is cool, but it's probably too many. The smaller player limits are good.

Weagles, we'll all play together, that way, worst case, you'll get scooterb telling you what to do ;)

Don't use COD as your template for all online gamers. Not everyone just plays like a dickwad because they can. If a game warrants tact and strategy to win matches it can certainly bring that out of players.

Warhawk as I said is one great showing for what a game can do if players work together and are tactile. R:FoM is another one which I have found can be both tactical and free-for-allish too, an extremely balanced game.

It might take a month or two to weed out the dumbshits who play the game and get actual tact from players, but it will happen.

There are only going to be so many times he can jack off to Heavy Rain before it fails to give him bonerz anymore.
I played God of War for the first time last night, I kept going back to the be (after arriving at athens) to see the tities :D.

Sweet patch. :thumbsu:

That has rectified most of problems I personally had with the beta. The framerate is probably still borderline unacceptable but it's good to know that they're working on it.

And Kingy, I expect you to respect my authoritah!

No doubt it's all the stuff that was found from the beta but just couldn't make it into the final copy of the game in time.

Seems they're doing the right things.

IGN US seem to be doing their review right. Having a 7 hour session today and holding off their review until they fell they can give a fair review. But in the mean time they have their first day impressions to give.

MAG was released today, and after about seven hours of solid play, we aren't ready to do a review quite yet.

Due to the fact that MAG is exclusively online, has some persistent elements (your faction scores for the various map types are tracked even while you are offline), and that certain features will only be unlocked as missions are won, it'll still likely still be a little while before we are ready to give a fair verdict. So, this is to let you, our readers, know that we have and are actively playing MAG. If you're not sure if it's worth dropping the $$$ on, we suggest you wait until our review.
