HTB wasn't the only thing they weren't paying, or were under the wrong conditions. Amount of times there looked to be a push in the back, and we were penalized for htb. Also Draper getting called for holding. Guess you're not allowed to touch anyone but the ball now.

There were some blatant throws not called.
The Amiss one near the boundary in the marking contest? Staggering.
Some HTB decisions we couldn’t get.

All of that is something, but the ones where I just thought it’s actual cheating is in just about every pack marking contest where a decision is made, Dogs won the free. IE they’re looking to give Dogs frees. Not saying they weren’t there, but everytime the whistle blew and for a second you weren’t sure which way it was going, it ALWAYS went Dogs way.

We only seemed to receive the obvious ones.

There was a hilarious one where Voss had his head ripped off and one of the umpires went to pay HTB but was overruled by the closer umpire.

Anyway, 2-2.

I can hack mistakes. Sure, pay the mark to a dog after the pill bounces straight off Rick’s hands. Why not? Hard to see things occurring directly in front of you.

But Khamis just wandering around hugging the pill, making no attempts to dispose, over and over again? It’s like the umpires thought he had just stepped off the plane, didn’t know the rules and were just being polite.

They didn’t even bother trying to square the ledger in the last. Amiss getting mauled in every marking contest. Swallow the whistle. Probably figured the deficit was too large to bridge.

It was beyond incompetence. It was genuinely deliberate cheating and there needs to be an investigation. But of course nothing will happen because we won and nobody from the club will say anything.

Have never been to a game where the crowd was so fired up about the umpires. Everybody was going berserk. This wasn't just one eyed behaviour from the crowd, it was a response to the blatant corruption on display. Number 4 in particular.

Who is Number 4 ?
Did we have him last weekend?

Was at the game with my family, and my 11 year old son kept asking for permission to swear at the umps, and I have to admit, I was really close to letting him let out one f-bomb to get it out of the system, because that was truly diabolical...the boos that rang out as the umps were leaving the ground was the loudest I've heard, well, almost ever...

Having said that, the one positive that came from it was that was just about the most feral (in a good way) our home crowd has been, almost since the Subi days. As has been noted by many of you here, we have become quite polite as supporters, but being royally shafted by the umps seemed to galvanise the crowd to not only boo the bejesus out of them, but to also really get behind the boys, because suddenly we are not just playing against the Bulldogs, we also have the umps to direct our frustrations at. There was a lot less disappointment (at least around me) with the boys when we conceded a goal (especially in the last quarter), but more really cheering them on and being supportive as much as possible. I really do hope that this stays, because if we can get back to making our home turf as hostile as anything, it can only be for the better..

A post above answered your question. We had him in the Sydney game as well. He came up through the West Perth umpiring district and has done a few WAFL grand finals. West Perth would be a dominant Eagles territory, and I'd be certain he is a West Coast fanboi like Dalgleish and Margetts.

The AFL presumably wants to save costs by using locally based umpires, but it has gone beyond a joke and the club should be demanding that these West Coast loving WA umpires be banned from umpiring our games.

It's a hierarchy.
Two weeks ago the dogs got reamed against Collingwood, 33-14 frees against and some ludicrous calls n the last quarter.
It's not a conspiracy per se, more a reflection of the unprofessional Vic centric nature of the league. I think I read there's only four umpires on the panel that live outside Vic, they're all immersed in Vic media narratives and at a subconscious level it effects decision making.
Big Vic club > small Vic club > non Vic club. Always has been, unless there is a dramatic shift in power away from Victoria probably always will be

Yes and no

The idea that ALF house ordered the umps to ream us is a fantasy in the minds of the jet-fuel-can't-melt-steel-beams crowd. A minority will always go straight to conspiracies.

That West Coast supporting umps would either consciously or subconsciously be biased against us and look to pay 50/50s against us and particularly not pay 50/50s for us: That's much more believable. A few times it had that air yesterday where the ump thought they could get away with not paying a 50/50 to us, when everyone else in the stadium could see it was clearly a free. I swear the only holding the balls we got in the f50 were paid by the non controlling umpire.

My favourite was when Bolton got Jones cold on the SW forward flank, they didn't pay it but he ran on and kicked the goal anyway.

My boys have never seen my so animated watching Freo play. They both moved to the far end of the couch out of arms reach.

There was a free against JOM early in the game and I thought “Is that how it’s going to be today?” Nope! We had to get three frees to be awarded one.

Khamis wasn’t even trying to get rid of it.

Edit: Am I the only one that thought Darcy’s first goal was a straight forward push in the back on Pearce?

You read my mind.

Darcy ran behind Pearce with his arms extended and hands touching Pearces back. This was as they led for the ball. The only reason to extend the hands is to "guard your space". You can"t guard space when you are on the lead.

Straight out, "hands in the back"

If we had have lost the game, the umpires wouldn’t have been the reason unless the dogs got two shaky free kicks to get in front when it was a 10 point game.

They did their best to get the dogs back in the game, however, through our own abilities and the dogs shitting themselves a little bit, we held on.

The holding the ball inconsistencies were horrible though. They were able to throw it, drop it, make no attempt to dispose of it multiple times and as soon as we even looked like we did any of those things, the whistle would blow.

I am sure I posted it here a few weeks back, that we need to get used to have Dalgleish umpiring our game.I predicted that we would have him for three weeks on the trot.Turned out I was correct.
I have said for many years that, though I detested Maggets, Dalgleish was far worse.
We, as supporters, need to be aware that for ost of the season at home games, we will get him.
I believe that three of the four GMs yesterday, were from West Australia.I am not saying they are West Australians, jut that they reside in WA.If you get my drift.

I very rarely make any noise of any kind at the game & I was screaming at them. It felt like a genuine attempt at match fixing.
Agree. My pathetically drowned out yell was "YOU ARE CORRUPT!" For me the Number 4 field umpire who closely monitored and sometimes overruled was the worst.

Yes, it was the unbelievably inconsistent HTB calls that drove us nuts as spectators - and clearly (we have close-to-the-action seats) frustrated the hell out of the Freo players.

Yep, see my post Alfonz - sent before I read yours.

They may be subconsciously accounting for last week’s reaming of the Dogs. They may be trying to address interpretations du jour and this week's focus areas. They may be inept. They may be corrupt. They may have grown up wanting to be Ben Cousins. The conjecture doesn’t really help me.

Whatever the reason, they definitely are not paying us 50-50s which they are paying the oppo. And that's what needs to be addressed.

Maybe direct the laser-like charisma of Justin Longmuir straight on it. Pull his cord, point him in the right direction and let him go.
