not really that sure about south melbourne or junction to see the pies, was a bit young and we just followed the pies every saturday. fitzroy was at the junction at some stage so am pretty sure i went there to see the pies.
can remember Glenferrie in 1970, Peter McKenna got his jumper torn off him and it was an absolute mud bath. hard to tell which team was which.

Yes, I only started attending games from 1976/77 onwards.
Richmond already at the MCG, Hawks at Princess Park, Fitzroy at Junction Oval.

Great memories...
The waverley car park after sitting in the cold / wet for 3 hrs you then had to endure another 1 without moving.

Lakeside Oval (1897-1980) = 71 - They used to play and televise a reserves game every Sunday for a while... i wasn't at the infamous game when that bloke went mad.

John Bourke. Tripped the player, pushed the umpire and then got stuck into the guy in the crowd.
Slugs commentary... 'I think you gotta take the boy off'

I saw the Pies at Glenferrie Oval, but not at Punt Road or Brunswick Street.

Edit: Hawthorn played at Glenferrie until 1973; Richmond at Punt Road until 1964; and Fitzroy at Brunswick Street until 1966.

I worked on the redevelopment of Waverley Park years ago, when Hawthorn moved there and Mirvac developed the housing estate. Money was being spent on public artwork and one of the suggestions was a car half buried in mud! Not sure if it got up, but footy fans would get the joke.

I’ve been to 11 for Pies games, all in Victoria except for one. Some I remember more than most. And for some reason Moorabbin sticks in my mind (and the mud in the outer might have stuck to my feet).

Returned to quite a few - and to other grounds - in recent years to watch our VFL boys.

Love the old footy grounds (rose coloured glasses?), despite the hard wooden seats, poor sight lines, smelly toilets and yes - the mud.

11 for me too. Never at Victoria Park sadly, but weirdly enough despite living in the eastern suburbs the first game my dad ever took me to was at the Western Oval.

Like to see if we can name them and anyone been to any of the stranger ones.
