sorry i was referring to Aishling.
But if Rowe is back in time, then i presume Aishling will be as well.

Braz will still be playing for the netball team, so doubt she will do both.

The historic 18-team AFLW competition will open with a Carlton-Collingwood grudge match at the Ikon Park venue that heralded the start of professional women’s football.

The Herald Sun can reveal Carlton will host the Pies in a Thursday 7.10pm clash on August 25, with the fixture of the AFLW’s seventh to be released early this week.

The following night Adelaide host their vanquished Grand Final opponent Melbourne in a Norwood Oval Friday night clash.

Quick season 7 fixture review:
2022 Ladder:

Adelaide = Home
Melbourne
Brisbane = Away
Kangaroos = Home
Fremantle = Away
Bulldogs
Carlton = Away
GWS = Home
Gold Coast
Richmond
Geelong = Away
St Kilda = Away
West Coast
New Teams:
Essendon = Home
Hawks
Port
Sydney = Home

2 Games against new teams
2 Games against 2022 bottom 4
2 Games against mid table
4 Games against ladder defining clubs with two being interstate against Brisbane & Freo.

Our season will probably come down to the last 3 games:
- Fremantle away
- Kangaroos following an interstate trip and 6 day break
- Brisbane away of another 6 day break

In a nutshell 3 winnable games to start, a 50 / 50 v Adelaide at vic park, some more winnable games against expansion sides and saints.
3 hard games in run home Bris, Freo, North.
I think a pretty good draw for us, gets us off to a good start hopefully.
No Demons, who i think will win the lot next year.

does anyone know if the club will have an intra-club practice game in the coming weeks ?

Must say i'm extremely disappointed with content from the AFLW so far.
3+ weeks to get a short video out about the new recruits? wtf is that?
nothing from Steve or Jess about our trading and recruitment strategy.
Nothing about pre-season or galleries so we can see how the players have come back to pre-season.

very very slack and disappointing.

The AFLW has been very much hidden behind the mens program to date.
Which whilst i fully understand this (in season for mens will always take precedent), if the club wants to grow the female brand, they need to do better than this.
Its basically zero content.
How are people supposed to get 'excited' about the upcoming womans season (and get to know the players) when there is zero content or excitement generated until after the mens programme is completed?

Do better!

Robbing Peter to pay Paul? We might be that desperate in the midfield, with our two champs out for the season. But who will take her role in defence?

I’m still p’d off that the new season timing and fixture means Bri Davey will effectively miss two entire AFLW seasons.

That was my exact reponse also when I read it.

Well Davey and Bonnici will both miss the entire 7th AFLW season. Considering Davey was injured in January, and Bonnici in February, they basically miss 12 months of footy. Considering they will be back August 2023, it's a longtime from their last games in AFLW, so both should be back fit and very eager to play.....
