How we qualified in round 13

https://supernetball.com.au/2017/05/22/finals-contenders-locked-round-13/

A loss to West Coast Fever would not have been season-ending for Magpies Netball but would have severely dented their confidence ahead of the sudden-death stage.

That was the reality they faced when the Perth outfit drew level in the third quarter of a tight contest.

And so, already weakened by a season-ending knee injury to Cody Lange, the Magpies were forced into a change in one of the most critical positions at goal attack.

Shae Brown’s energy dragged the Magpies out of jail, but Alice Teague-Neeld’s one attempt in three quarters was a worrying sign.

How finals work http://magpiesnetball.com.au/news/faqs-semi-finals/.

Basically:

Week 1
Major semi final - 1st vs 2nd
Minor semi final - 3rd vs 4th

Week 2
Prelim final - Loser major SF vs winner minor SF

Week 3 - grand final
Winner major SF vs winner prelim

Our opponent:
Melb Vixens, Sunshine Coast and GWS all in contention for third. Most likely we play the loser of GWS vs Sunshine Coast (Saturday) in first week of the finals, although a Vixens loss (away to WC Fever - Saturday) and a GWS win would see the Vixens host us in finals week 1.

TV:
All finals games will be broadcast live and free on 9Gem and can be streamed live on the Netball Live mobile app. Telstra TV will also have on-demand replays of every final available at least four hours after the completion of each match.

I'm kind of hoping to play Vixens so we have a Melbourne final.

Looks like we'll be playing Giants up in Sydney.

But if anything I'd rather play them in a grand final.

Vixens have qualified for the GF. We'll play them if we win our next two finals games

It's an unusual finials system. It certainly rewards top of the table teams with direct entry into key finals games.

Yep, first week of finals is locked in.

Melb Vixens vs Sunshine Coast
GWS vs Collingwood

Don't they have to beat Sunshine Coast in the major semi first?

Late to the party here, but it's actually not an unusual finals system at all. Probably my favourite in that the best two teams are given the greatest chance of winning the flag.
