Now it isn't 100% certain that it will happen, but they said Collingwood Social Club, Admin and training facilities are moving to Olympic Park.

if the facilities arent good enough, they should move, whether its tradition or not... theres a premiership to be won, and we want to win it, and if the facilities arent up to scratch at vic park, im all for the move.. as long as they keep it.. and im sure they will

"Keep it "? What for ? A large roosting station for the local pigeons ?
It's an abomination which should be bulldozed. (They could make a fortune selling pieces of the turf to the wood-duck Pies supporters....Roll up, roll up, buy 'em while they're still green !)

Absoloutley Alf, old news. And as for the supporters not knowing, we all know!!!.
I went to a member's meeting last night actually where Ed, Greg Swann and others told us what is being planned at this stage. At least we are being consulted on this issue and being asked for any input. And I'll tell you what, the facilities down there are going to be superb and a stone's throw from the home ground. Also there was a large contingent of people ther last night and I would say listening to the cheers etc that about 90 % are in favour. Yes Vic Park has history but it is time to move on and upgrade. Imagine driving down Swan St and seeing the olympic park biulding painted in black and white with the Collingwood emblem on the front.
This is not about Eddie trying to make money, for who??? it is about getting the best facilities for the players, members and supporters. Works for me. So before all you start spouting your mouth off about eddie and money etc etc, get the facts first as obviously you don't know what you are talking about.

As much as I agree a little with you. Just remember where your side resides and what your club's position (financial) is before canning anyone else. Arden St is a shocker.

This is all very well and good for Collingwood, but how are they planning to pay for the land at Olympic Park, not to mention the training facilities??? I would think the cost would be massive - far more than the Magpies could afford unless they sell off Victoria Park...sorry, McHale Stadium.

Wouldn't it be cheaper just to upgrade the existing facilities?

PooBoy, if you guys pay your rent to the Melbourne City Council (it's only $15,000/annum or so and you still can't pay it) like normal people do when they rent stuff, maybe you can stay there!!!

Of course the vista of having an asphalt plant next door, lost dogs home, railway yards and a buck a foot warehouses is much better the being on the edge of the Yarra River in the booming suburb of Abbotsford. Far more picturesque!

Anyway, it is not feasible to rennovate Vic Park, if for no other reason than its poor accessibility (ie cars).

We were always going to move to Olympic Park. I believe though, that the Social Club will form part of the new stand at the G.

GOALden Hawk Collingwood is a business and it will do what all major corporations do - lease. Make it turnover related with a small base rental. Puts the burden of property maintenance, taxes etc onto the landlord. We should just focus on serving beer and playing great footy!
