Majak's an evolving Daw


AFTER just six weeks of training at North Melbourne, Majak Daw already is starting to look like an outstanding AFL prospect.The first African-born footballer on an AFL list, the teenager also is becoming a unique physical specimen.
But his senior football career is likely to be at least another 18 months away and baby steps are being taken to develop him physically for the journey ahead.
They are baby steps for an already big boy.
At just 18, Sudanese-born Daw is 195cm and 91kg, having put on 2kg of muscle since arriving at North Melbourne.

It's impossible to overstate just how popular he was last night at Eureka Stadium, signing autographs. Really, this kid will be a sensation WHEN he gains more footy playing experience and knowledge to go with his already impressive athleticism. Great pickup with our final rookie selection.
 
Great to see Robbo embrace the endless, puntastic possibilities that Majak's name offers.

Kid's a rock star. His life has undergone some pretty dramatic changes, but he seems to take everything in his stride. Very glad that we're the ones who are taking a chance on him. Small gamble with considerable upside.

I've also heard that if Majak stares at something long enough, it starts to take on the appearance of another object.

When I saw the photo in the paper I couldn't help but think of John West as a nickname for Majak.

Hang around him & take the small fish that he rejects. He'd have to have glamours hanging off him wouldn't he?:p

Hopefully his football lives up to the marketability. His approach seems impeccable.
 
That headline is a disgrace. My dad would have ben ashamed of punning that outrageous. Whoa - I just saw on the Hun site they've got that photo with the headline "A cut above". That's much better.

Nice article - seems like a really good kid to have around the club even while he's being slowly developed.

I had to look twice because at first glance I thought it was a pic of Urmoe then I realised Urmoe isn't black, cut, tall and intelligent.:D

Thanks SLF, but wont they be past their use by date?

I am trying to work out how I can utilise my collection of lanyards as well.

Any suggestions?

In all seriousness though black guys have a tendancy to look alot bigger and fitter than they are. If Jack Ziebell or Ben Warren were black they would nearly look like that. LOL
