He did chose easy targets, Women and Men with their back turned.
He also went for a male security gaurd and the Female cop, perhaps he knew how he'd go out.

Do you reckon its because he chose a highly populated shopping complex for maximum carnage in shortest time that it was predominantly Women as Women tend to frequent those places more or he wanted to Kill Women so chose a place they'd likely be in large numbers?

I reckon I'll follow the Coroner's inquiry for more information while I wait for the findings.

Speaking of red flags, in short.

A coronial inquest heard Joel Cauchi made repeated attempts to attend sporting events at an all girls' boarding school in Queensland in 2022.

The inquest also heard Cauchi made a series of troubling internet searches, including "12 common traits of serial killers" and "what women look for in men".

Seems like his Psychiatrist stuffed up.

"A panel of five psychiatrists, called by the court to provide opinions on Cauchi's mental health treatment, agreed it was "reasonable" for Dr Boros-Lavack to reduce Cauchi's dose of Clozapine in order to find an "optimal dose" that would minimise unpleasant side effects of the drug.

But one of the psychiatrists, Edward Heffernan, said he counted nine occasions that were of concern – relating to insomnia, his mother suspecting symptoms, a change in behaviour and satanic control.

"To me, this flags we are probably having a psychotic episode here," Professor Heffernan said.

Merete Nordentoft, a leading Danish psychiatrist, said the concerns were not taken seriously enough and described this period as a "missed opportunity" to put Cauchi back on anti-psychotic medication.

In her opening address, Dr Dwyer said the inquest would review Cauchi's mental health treatment, where he was effectively without treatment and without adequate supervision for nearly five years before the Bondi killings".

Why have they not released his toxicology report? Or spoken about any findings from it? Can't see anything where they've said the toxicology report was clear of Ice etc.

Only Cannabis was reported to have been found from what was presented at the inquest.

Whether they drug (illegal, unprescribed prescription drugs, and other substances (for example: evidence of vaping anything) tested for things like hair follicles that can show up other drugs that will not necessarily show up in blood tests unless the drug usage was not long before he died, would be interesting to know.

Someone will hopefully dig this up from media reporting or inquest intel and post in here.

Ah k thanks! I was curious as there's no media articles mentioning outcomes from drug testing. I would assume they confirmed this wasn't an ice induced psychosis. Can't really see much about his drug use leading up to event either, if there was any.

Who knows what other drugs Joel Cauchi was self-medicating with over the last few years, that might have triggered a different form of psychosis, fried his brain a bit, and triggered new behavioral and decision-making issues.
Only Cannabis was in his system from the autopsy report.

Not to forget the accumulated sleep related issues he would have likely had from sleeping rough for so long.

Was there any autopsy evidence presented of an STD infection?

There's this from the first day of the inquest that was livestreamed on youtube.

'“Expert toxicology evidence suggests that Mr Cauchi had been using cannabis, or marijuana, in the days preceding his death. The use of marijuana also preceded Mr Cauchi’s initial diagnosis of schizophrenia in 2001.

“I expect the court will hear expert psychiatric evidence that use of cannabis would likely have exacerbated the psychotic symptoms that Mr Cauchi was experiencing around the 13th of April, but, conversely, expert evidence is also likely to shed light on the fact that use of cannabis may be a symptom of schizophrenia or psychosis.”'

There should be more than the below somewhere in the inquest documents unless they have been suppressed or redacted. It's possibly there were other things detected from the toxicology report that were not mentioned on Day 1 of the inquest, or kept from public view at the inquest and from the media. But if the toxicology report(s) have been made public, then we can rule out a whole lot of things for sure.

Very sad for all concerned. Hard to believe so much time has passed, but it stands still for the relatives.

From yesterday's Guardian and the submissions to the inquest this week, new evidence regarding Cauchia, cocaine and MDMA.

...
Earlier on Friday, Lynch said Cauchi’s phone and internet records showed it was “apparent that he was seeking” cocaine, MDMA and cannabis in late 2023 and early 2024.

Further, his resumption of drug use was “quite likely” to have played a part in the events of that day, although cocaine and MDMA were not found in his toxicology report.

The four C's of medical malpractice.

Compassion, communication, competence, and charting.

But of course, psychiatrist's feel that they are under paid and deserve to go on strike.

$438,000 isn't enough.
You're taking the actions of one psychiatrist as evidence that an industrial action for a pay rise should not proceed?

Not sure if serious.
