Why does Jack Riewoldt always wait for the ball to bounce in front of him when he can just as easily mark it albeit maybe sliding on his knees?

Disagree with this.

Firstly I think the 'problem' is being overplayed. Have seen it happen but not to the level that is being suggested by some posters. And I have not seen him pass up an 'easy' mark in favour of letting it bounce. This is just wrong.

Secondly, the guy is 19 and is a genuine footballer. I would not be pi$$ing about with something that is instinctive to him.

If you concerned about his attack on the ball - take a look at the mark he took at the end of the game against the saints. 100% commitment. The difference is he has the brains to understand when he is better to keep his feet and control of the ball rather than commit to something that is a low percentage gamble.

Sorry but surely this rates as a bullsh!t thread, for years we've been crying out for bigger mids, another forward and more run out of our backline. Well I reckon for the players we've currently got available we're going alright. Johnson and Tuck are generally the hard nut in the midfield, Jacko and Hyde are fighting for the tagging role and Newman is setting up a lot out of our back half, which is assisting significantly to quicker direct movement into our forward line. Reiwoldt is operating in a forward line which is use to having the best contested mark and probably the most atheletic forward to ever play the game.
The one big problem we have is, McMahon lacks the ability to win contested footy and his disposals generally are out wide, and don't worry his lack of ability to win the contested footy is causing the rest of our backs to be forced to leave their man. But with increased pressure he may not be in our best side anyway.

EXACTLY.... I think I said this earlier or in another thread. Jack is an Instinctive footballer... a natural footballer... . Making him into a robot player like everyone else will destroy his development and ruin him as a footballer. He is 19.. holding his spot as a forward option .... WHAT ELSE DO YOU EXPECT OR WANT?
