2 more years - McIntosh, Corey Ellis and Lennon replacing Gordon, Lloyd and Steve Morris.

Bring in a couple of RFA's and we will be a decent side. But we need a better coach....Dimma just doesn't get them up and about and his game plan involves limited pressure shown by our tackle count. A couple of years ago we got smashed by this in the media and he came out and said something like "there are other ways to pressure"........but unfortunately the main way is to tackle.

Agree with this to an extent but at the same time we will lose Maric and even Deledio before too long. Things are looking good with Mcintosh coming through and Ellis developing in the twos. Hopefully Lennon can establish himself as well. Personally I think we have the makings of a good side but am concerned that we just wont have the depth of quality that some of the other sides due to the diluted drafts we rebuilt in and our more rapid rise up the ladder than clubs like the Demons and the Dogs.

Yes I agree with the Lids situation.

I guess the question there is....if Lids says at the end of the year he wants to go chase a flag do we let him go?

Our list ain't that bad and we play good footy at times, needs more consistency. Ratings are, of course, when we are fit and in form, like all clubs.

Elite - Deledio (not that I know what "elite" really means) A+
Very good - Cotchin, Rance, Reiwoldt, Edwards, Martin, B Ellis, Maric A/B
Good and have lot's of improvement or are consistent - Vlaustin, McIntosh, Griffiths, Vickery, Conca, Miles, Houli, Astbury, Chaplin, Petterd, Grigg, Hunt, Batchelor B/C
Good but at end of career or injury prone - Newman, Grimes, Knights, Foley, C
Probably not good enough - Hampson, Gordon, Lloyd, Dea (???), Thomas, Morris. D
Been in the system and need to show something soon - McBean, Arnot, McDonough, Elton C/D
To early to tell but we need a few of these to become Elite or very good - Lennon, C Ellis, Menadue, McKenzie, Drummond (we now know he's got ticker), Butler, Short, Soldo, Lambert, Castagna

I don't want to start a debate about where I rated individual players, more point out that we have talent and are relatively young.

We have the talent and seem to need a cliff approaching fast to get going. Surely that loss to the Melbourne would have made the players ashamed and ready to go.

And Geelong suck majorly. Got to just do a job this week. then start to play like the last 9 weeks of 2014

I will not talk abut individuals either , you are overrating the whole list as a group!;)

Hardly call it a failed rebuild...McBean... C.Ellis... Lennon... McKenzie... Menadue and Drummond. Types we simply didn't have on our list when we started. Not saying all will make it, but there's talent to work with.

People need to understand these guys can't perform straight away unless they are Heeney which they are not.

Gotta give them 2-3 years particularly light types like Menadue to be fair and the bigger KPP's

I don't think our list is as bad as it seems at the moment, we are missing members of our best 22 through injury but also a lot guys who are on the fringes who would make our depth look ok if they were fit. I still think we aren't that far away from becoming a good team, I think this year's off season will be telling. If we can land say Shiel and Yarran, two of the popular guys being talked about at the moment, our team going into 2016 looks pretty good if you ask me.

B: Batchelor, Astbury, Chaplin
HB: Houli, Rance, Deledio
C: Ellis, Cotchin, McIntosh
HF: Edwards, Griffiths, Lennon
F: Martin, Reiwoldt, Yarran
R: Maric, Vlastuin, Shiel
I: Miles, Conca, Hunt, C.Ellis

TL;DR: We still have the makings of a very good team

the life of a Richmond supporter - anyone born since the late 70's and there after cant remember a time when we haven't been even short of excellence, and whenever we look like we coming good, injuries hit, players leave or we basically remain crap again.

as a 37 year old I've learnt to take the hits and misses, its like being in a marriage that's hasn't worked out well over the years and now I just feel basically numb! I'm not bothered with losses anymore but more importantly I don't get excited with wins! so basically my hope is I cant be hurt anymore lol!

"3. Richmond will always be Richmond... one giant tease whose football is as contrasting as yellow and black"

Footy clubs are funny - both odd and humorous. A one-line summary of every club can stay true for decades, even when every single person from timepoint A has been replaced when you get to timepoint B.

You can bet that as I type this post:
  • Carlton are working at stepping around one or more rules,
  • Essendon are strutting like born-to-rule, inbred royalty,
  • a Collingwood player is driving home pissed and
  • the elderly gentleman with the mobility scooter and oxygen tank lighting a smoke outside the TAB is wearing a Bulldogs cap.
Maybe that's why Richmond supporters have a hope that can not be killed by conventional weapons. It's black right now, but at some point, it will turn bright yellow.

I don't think we need a rebuild. Its not the players skills that's the problem, or the gameplan. It's their attitude.
Against the dogs and dees it was evident that the opposition wanted it more. They were hungrier than us.
Hopefully all this bad press will get them hungry.
You don't win 9 in a row or be the first team ever to make finals from 3-10 if you are crap.
Since last year we haven't lost any major players and we have brought in 5 kids from the national draft and 2 kids from the rookie draft.
They will take time.
We need the players to be self motivated enough to want to make the necessary sacrifices to be successful. That's were I believe we are at.

Of course there is shame in losing to them. We are a better team than them, we should be beating them.

This attitude is whats wrong with this club.

I'd argue that they are better than us. They beat us, two years in a row now and are beating teams that are better than us or at least perceived to be better than us.

Bannantigz agree with the sentiment that with our full side on the park we are a decent team. No doubt however even with our full side we need a couple of players to come in as you have noted. Still early in the season - hopefully we can get more of our players on the park and win enough games to get us into the finals and then win one. If we can do that we are more of a chance players nominating us.

Absolutely. Childish to claim to we're better than a team that beat us.

We ARE better than them, we just aren't playing like it.

They beat WCE and Adelaide. They aren't better than us, given your logic since we beat both of them last year.

Adelaide can arguably be rated better than us at the moment
