Some of my thoughts:
1. To quote an oft-used statement by clubs, "it would be irresponsible of us to not, at the very least, inquire". Those who actually suggest that we don't need Chris Judd the player are being stupid. The issue is whether he's worth what we'd have to give up.
2. The injury concerns don't really bother me, from what I understand of them (ie they're not career-threatening).
3. The public reasoning is that of family. That may be true, but I wouldn't be surprised (actually, I'm willing to bet) that the Cousins fracas and other Eagles issues, to go with the WC culture, played their bit.
4. WC will over-demand, clubs will under-offer, and ultimately one club will over-pay. Why? Because he's a superstar. This is why true superstars rarely, if ever, get traded in the modern game.
5. WC will bargain hard, and rightly so. People are talking about things like a first rounder and a good young player (and here, people are just throwing up names like Josh Kennedy and Paul Bower) to get Chris Judd. That ain't going to happen. Brad Ottens/Nathan Thompson cost 2 first rounders (albeit in the teens), Nathan Brown cost Pick 6, Chris Judd will almost certainly demand alot more (and this is where the issue of how much a club will have to give up is, in the end, worth what they're getting in return - he's going to be eating into salary, player stocks [both young and established], and potential future assets [ie draft picks]).
6. On our end, aside from the obvious constraints of location (they say Victoria, but realistically, it's Melbourne [although, we can afford him the Ottens-type limo treatment, right?

), salary (we're operating close to 100%, I believe), and the issue of cost vs return (we're going to have to give up 2-3 good/potentially good players [through a mixture of established guys, young guys, and draft picks]), another big issue I see is that of chemistry. It's immeasurable, but it's an element of our club that's playing a big part on the way we perform out there on the field. Moloney generated some fuss, we can only imagine what would be created to move Judd down the highway.
