Opinion Make Some Noise!

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

It was brought up by some Hawks supporter in the bay 13 forum, and i kind of agree with him, it's woeful!
it's almost as bad as the fake clapping at BBL games. It's embarrassing, i can't be the only one who hates it, can i?

No, it's you.

People who cringe at every little thing are just too damned anal. Get over yourself and let others have their fun.

And another thing... if it bothers Hawthorn supporters, all the better.

It is almost as embarassing as the Collingwood Dance Crew - confected crowd involvment is so inferior to the genuine article - SCRAP IMMEDIATELY

I really like Here Comes The Boom and I was hanging for boomer to get a goal on Friday, I reckon it'd have lifted the roof after the crap he copped in the paper that day.

If only he'd have been a bit more selfish instead of passing to Black, eh?

Am a bit disappointed to hear what I thought was a more naturally passionate and vocal North crowd nowadays, which used to be/sound pretty lame, is manufactured.

When is it spontaneous and when is it contrived? Either way it does sound awesome on TV.

The call on the scoreboard to make noise is just before the bounce. Any other time, it's natural.

There were Hawthorn supporters there? :p

I think we have developed a lot of watchers, even when we have a good crowd you wouldn't say the atmosphere at our games is that great, perhaps they are just trying to get supporters to be more vocal, I think some noise makes for a more entertaining environment than the 'wake' silence.

I am with Twinkletoes on this...when we are on a roll it is awesome and the two instances that come to mind are the 3rd Q's V Tigers and Hawks.

FWIW Orange Peanut the 'Make Some Noise' poster made it home in one piece last week and now joins my mid 1990's 'Rooboy/Nike' poster beside the lemon lime-soda-vodka bar.

I think that is not the case at all. When we are winning, our crowd makes more noise than many bigger crowds can't generate IMO.

That isn't my experience at all outside of close games, or when we aren't going too great. Maybe I need to go move next to the pissheads. :p

The cheer squad try hard to get everyone cheering at the same time and fails to some extent but the big screen does it easily allowing everyone who wants to cheer to do it in sync. When this really takes off and it will we wont need the main screen to start it. My kids love it and more and more kids around us are getting into the idea of being lowd at the footy.

Was it the WC game where the crowd was singing Hearts to hearts in the last quarter?

They did. we started it in the last quarter the other night too. Unfortunately - and this happens often (maybe it's the length of the song) - even though the crowd waits until the game is won to start singing, some time during it the opposition gets the ball and kicks or looks like kicking a goal and the triumphalism just tails off pretty quickly.

My best memory of singing it during a game was in that meaningless final round of 2004 when we beat Carlton by 124 points. The whole stadium was on its feet, nothing could shut us up after an ordinary season.

I have no problem with it. Anything that builds the atmosphere is great because it is important that our boys out on the ground know we are getting excited. The noise of a crowd can have a big impact on the players. I would rather if we were all shouting "North Melbourne, North Melbourne", because I think that is easily the most inspiring noise/chant that we can provide.

Unfortunately the area in which I sit is pretty passive in terms of that chant. Every now and again we get a few in our area who are more into it and the noise is just sensational.

For what it is worth, I never go home without basically losing my voice. We expect our players to leave nothing out there in terms of effort, so we too should do the same from our side of the fence. Takes me a couple of days to get my voice back to be honest though.

And, how often do we hear the commentators say when one of the Victorian sides is playing in Perth or Adelaide, how important it is for the traveling club to kick early goals and "take the crowd out of it". Anything to get our support noise up is worthwhile in my view.

Amen.

I yell all kinds of shit out at the footy.

Of late it has been to yell "want it more" when they are in the centre.

Absobloodylutely Horace. After a loss, if I'm still speaking coherently I take the view that I'm in no position to go finger pointing at players for giving it anything less than their all, as I obviously haven't.

It's up to each and every one of us to pull our weight, be emotionally invested in every play, and exercise our voice boxes to the max in support of the 22 blokes out there representing our club.

If I'm not searching for the Butter Menthols once home I've been shithouse during the three hours of game time.

MAKE PLENTY OF NOISE!

It's grown on me, probably as I don't give a f*** that some opposition fans are pissed off about it when we're winning or on a roll. It's a million times better than the bloody air raid siren, or dog bark, or friggin trumpet crap up the GC way.

I tell ya what that i frikken loved it after every goal in that last quarter last friday night .

If opposition supporters don't like it then i even love it more !!!
