Re: David Mundy will not be heading to the Gold Coast

me neither. It is a fact different players develop at different rates.
Mundy was our ONLY midfield winner last Friday against one of the best ever midfields. If we lose him we will battle to see finals action next year. Anyone that thinks that he is not an elite midfielder is a complete fool. I hope he wins our Club Champion award which I really think he has a big chance of doing

We'll see on Monday night if the umpires think he's an elite midfielder.

Re: David Mundy will not be heading to the Gold Coast

I wouldn't trade Mundy for Nicky Dal.

Seconded.

And I can't remember if this is the thread where Mem keeps saying he isn't a ball winning midfielder (they're all blurring into one now) but it's a ridiculous claim.

For years we've had an awesome tap ruckman spoonfeeding the ball down the throats of a bunch of clumsy fumblers with two left feet for hands... and it showed with our dismal clearance stats. Suddenly Mundy comes into his own as a midfielder and he's taking clean possessions from Sandi's taps and creating clearances left right and centre.

Now Mem might not class that as 'ball winning' but I'd say intelligent reading of taps and subsequent clean handling are pretty damn important ball winning skills for a midfielder.

who cares what the umpires think? Shane Woewodin even won a Brownlow for christs sake!!!!
Much better reflection of players is there polling in Club Champion and even All Australian (which Mundy was short listed for).
If thats the best you can come up with maybe try again ........

140 games x 3 umpires and he's never got a vote. 200 players get votes every season. It's hardly an exclusive club.

Umpires do know what they're doing. The Brownlow medallists are elite players. The umpires voted for Michael Barlow in the JJListon medal but every club thought they knew better. I'd rather go with the umps to judge talent than club recruiters who have a shocking track record.

Actually I changed my mind. I agree completely with you. Clayton Hinkley got votes Round 22 2008 and I am pretty sure Byron Schammer got a few votes at last year or the year before. Both clearly better than Mundy
Can't believe Shane Beros wasnt drafted after winning a Sandover or 2 either

That is one of the dumbest, most nonsensical statements I've ever read on here.

I was going to write a rebuttal but I couldn't decide which one of the many, many flaws to start with.

Don't forget Tom Swifts' 3 votes in 09. :p

*facepalm*

Re: David Mundy will not be heading to the Gold Coast

im starting to feel mundy is definatly victoria bound- as a richmond fan (ignore avatar) what would you feel would be an adequate trade

i would almost trade pick 6 for mundy and perhaps a shuffle of 3rd 2nd round picks.

this is all hypothetical, just interested to know what you value mundy at

Re: David Mundy will not be heading to the Gold Coast

Pick 6 & Rance and you've got a deal for mine.

I doubt others will agree though.

Preferrably i'd like to keep him of course.

yeh i wouldnt like to give up both

rance will be shopped around this year despite finsihing the year on a positive note with some good performances. Fremantles back 6 are all in there twilight years except for duffman and roberton so rance would be a good inclusion for your side. i think maybe mundy- rance, pick 29, thursfield/mcgaune could work well for freo and richmond, who have a plethora of key backs at the club such as astbury, morre, gourdis, post, grimes ect.

Re: David Mundy will not be heading to the Gold Coast

Isn't Mundy's manager that Paul Connors bloke who was Judds manager when Juddy turned his back on the WCE? This has a similar smell to it. Both WA clubs should get nervous about having top class players from Vic who are managed by this bloke. He's a snake.

+1:thumbsu:

Bloke can't even afford a website, from what I can gather it's a shoestring operation with only a couple of staff (plus work experience trainees who probably go away with no more than one of Judd's soiled jockstrap as a keepsake memento) in some dingy office in Brighton (far from the city so the rent is peanuts).

Has probably been urging Mundy to move back to Melbourne from day 1 to help reduce expenses - all these years at Fremantle must have cost him a fortune in feeding the carrier pigeons.

The day Swift was the top possession getter in the winning team (80 points) kicked a goal and laid 10 tackles. I wonder why he got the three votes.

You'd be right.
Also manages Adam "yeah I'll sign when I get back from holidays, no wukkas, I'm back bye bye now" McPhee.
So could be said he a) doesn't place high priority in keeping the clubs happy & b) owes us one.

He's notorious for clumsy "negotiations" via media leaks and whispering campaigns. It's pointless and annoying for the clubs and supporters.

Re: David Mundy will not be heading to the Gold Coast

Dont want Rance, all he is good for is running headlong inot things and getting knocked out.

Click this link and you are one confirmation away from reading the Freo board without anti-Mundy propoganda :thumbsu:

Almost the best post in this thread :D

My gut feeling is that David Mundy, who has shown though his excellent clearance work, sublime skills, courage and willingness to work hard, that he has finally put it all together for Fremantle and is now a bona fide AFL star, will be staying at Freo.

Re: Is Mundy signing bigger then Pav?

So if true Mundy is deciding his contract AFTER going back to Melbourne and having interviews with clubs. Will be funny watching the Mundy supporters turn on the mercenary if he does leave.

I lol'd. Nice attempt.

Re: Is Mundy signing bigger then Pav?

Richmond, Melbourne and Essendon wouldn't be able to offer the same money.
And he is apparently after finals games.
So, if they are the clubs we are competing with, I'd reckon we are in with a good chance.
