Just heard Woosha on channel 7 saying that Eagles can win the premiership.

I also started a topic about us able to win the premiership about 2 weeks ago with our best side on the ground.
So I guess I am being a ------------

The problem for us is that we need to end up top 4 minimum so we can get to the preliminary final
more easily.
With key players and really key players out we are under pressure to win the early games thus hard to get into the top 4.

Natanui is amazing for the team when he is going .
Kerr also provides genius and toughness which I bnelieve gets picked up (attitude) by other players.

Waters offers us the no fuss attitude and its great he will be there.

I dont believe our midfield is confident like the Collingwood one so missing Kerr is crucial.

The Collingwood game on the weekend made me notice what a power midfield Collingwood have

Come on fella... it's not like its new news that the Pies have a strong midfield. If anything it's probably peaked by now and will begin slowing down as some of the younger mid team overtake it. Pendles + Swan have been blue chip for what 4 years now? Beams is now in that category with Sidebottom / Daisy not far off.

In contrast to our midfield it really stands out. I mean with the exception of poor old Kerr we still do not have a proven blue chip midfielder. Shuey + Gaff the young guys with the most potential to break into this tier.

I didnt say we would definately miss the 8.

I said that we could struggle in early matches because of missing players and then find ourselves amongst the 7th-12th teams and the longer we go without these players the more difficult it will be to get in.

Define definitely.

whoa, whoa, whoa, slow down there tigers!

NAB cup is like dancing with your sister.

I personally think that the Eagles were not that interested in winning that game. Lets not worry too much about it. Lets just wait and see how the season unfolds before we start looking for early draft picks for next year.

I still feel we should be looking to bolster our midfield at the trade table.

No doubt we fought hard to do this last year - picking up Cripps and Wellingham and getting in the ear of (rumour has it) Kane Lucas and Brent Moloney.

But Wellingham isn't a Kerr replacement, Cripps is more of a receiver, and Hutchings isn't going to displace Priddis any time soon.

Rich, Coniglio or Conca. Those are my three suggestions.

I'd add O'Meara to that list, but agree, we do need to look outside, especially if Shuey, Scooter or Masto can't lift to that elite level week in week out.

Watched the nab game against pies again last night it ain't as bad as I first thought, there young guys wanted it more.. We didn't look like we gave two shits, our forward pressure was none existent.. This isn't the team we know, it was a practice game. I have faith that we will peak at the right time and we are still top 4 material no doubt.. Have faith, I'm sure everything will go to plan..

I don't want to live in this world.

Whilst I agree there have been a ridiculous amount of reactionary posts since we lost on the weekend, I don't think it is unreasonable to suggest that making the eight this year is no guarantee. It's going to be a very even competition at the top end, good teams miss out every year. I reckon it's going to be tougher than some people are expecting.

O'Meara is a first year player. I'd rather we picked up someone a little more ready-made (although having said that I would be far from unhappy if we targetted him).

He would also likely cost alot more than the other three being a minidraft pick.

It is likely they were happy to avoid a NAB Cup final game as it could interupt planned preperations.

Fair call, but Coniglio was mentioned and has only played one more season than him at this stage... I just hope we can lure someone of that calibre home, Rich would be ideal given his age, and I think his contract expires at the end of this season. Good call. Probably not in our best interests to play a mickey mouse GF then front up a round 1 derby the following week.

Holy crap...only 17 days until bouncedown :D :thumbsu:

If you just read the bolded parts of what Go Eagles is saying, it reads...

I should point out that if our best side is playing we can beat anyone.

Our full team can beat anyone
