I'd like another crack at the Hawks with NN tbh.

So do I.

The hawks got on top of us in the middle in that game a few weeks ago, especially in the last half. I don't see that happening with nn playing.

So for us was good- we got to see a lot of the hawks set up, but they didn't see us at our optimum best.

It is far better to meet the Dockers or the Swan in the Grand Final than meeting Hawthorn in their home town!
As such, it is better for the Eagle to eliminate Hawthorn in Perth in the Preliminary Final.

Except that isn't necessarily going to be the case. We could meet them again in the GF following that scenario.

Or how about smashing Sydney round 1, then smashing Freo in the grand final (if it works that way).

With Priddis winning the Brownlow.

My nerves would cop a beating but boy would it be worth it.
Priddis hat trick! Brownlow/norm smith/premiership----bet he still dosnt get AA

Was discussed on the Coach Tonight.

That Hawthorn have concerns, can't match Eagles Power Forwards and they are exposed to a Great Tap Ruckman as Ryder dismantled them.

They were gushing over what Nic Nat could do to the Hawks, which are my thoughts exactly.

Finish 1 / 2, who cares. Bring it on.

Poll is skewed. Needs a "Who Cares" Option.

Except the poll asks which optimal, not which would you prefer. If you say 'who cares' to which is optimal that implies that finishing 4th is as good as 1st, or 2nd as good as 3rd, which is clearly not true.

I wouldn't be surprised if Port rolled Freo in the final round.

Beat the Crows and then Saints and top spot is ours.

Given that one prelim must be played in Melbourne if both the Eagles and Freo win week 1 whoever is second loses the right to a second home final. Would need to travel to the MCG.

Geeeez I hate this Victorian biased fixed competition sometimes.:mad:

It's a Myth, this rule went out 10 years ago.

You sure. That's exactly what I thought but weren't they talking about that last night?

I'll be very happy to be wrong here. Had an Eagles mate at work saying that's the rule, one prelim must be at the MCG.

Apparently McLachlan came out and said both would be in Perth if it happened that way.

100% I am right. There was a another thread / talk last night about this. It was Gaze that brought it up on the Bounce Last night. Later got called out as being wrong.

"And the league boss has confirmed that should the Dockers and Eagles both qualify for home preliminary finals, they will both play at Subiaco in the last week of September.

“Yes, they will be playing preliminary finals here in Perth and to be honest with the way they’re playing it looks like it’s a possibility,” the league boss said."

Ridiculous that this has reemerged, and enough people picked it up that it's doing the rounds all over the place. People at work asking questions about it, first thing my mum said after I got home from the game was 'yeah but they said we have to play at the MCG'. Insane how one ill-informed man can spread so much shit so easily. Imagine if it were something consequential or important and not something like this which is easy to tidy up.

I think there is a contract with the MCC that at least 5 finals will be played at the MCG every two years.
GF each year is 2 so that leaves 3 finals over two years played their.

The odds of it happening are a million to one.

I've got to go with finishing 1st but that only works if a) we win our QF and b) the Purpleshite do the right thing and knock off the Hawks in their QF.

I like the idea of playing Hawthorn in a PF for several reasons;

1. Their 2nd trip to Perth in 3 weeks. It's enormously difficult to play 3 pressure cooker games in a row whilst staying at home never mind a pair of 3,000km road trips. The senior brigade at Hawthorn will stretched to breaking point.
2. They've never faced a fully fit Naitanui. To some extent they'll be flying into the unknown.
3. The imminent departure of Brendan Bolton combined with the horrible tragedy that's befallen Brett Ratten can't help but unsettle their brains trust.
4. The Hawks actually struggle a bit with PF's. In their recent history they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory and against Collingwood and they've VERY nearly come unstuck against Adelaide and Port despite home state advantage and being warm favourites before the match.

Cool. That must have been it. My mate said that it was being discussed on Sunday Night which would have been The Bounce show.

Happy days..........just need to win week 1.
