Hardwick on the other hand has 2 flags to his name and coming on a grad final win - things a little easier for him. But he also goes down the hard/tough approach when needed.

.
It's 3 flags, but you will only see 2 of them on thursday night ;)

Only seen the first eps, it’s not that exciting, but still nice to get a small insight into some of the clubs.

Eddie Betts: just seems like a lovely bloke, really kind and the way he treats the talk around racism is really mature.

Rory Sloane: Again seems like a really nice dude, and looks like a fantastic leader too.

Loved the West Coast boys having a few beers after the round 1 match when covid halted the season, you rarely see that, and shows that teams do wind down and relax like they should be able to.

Dew and Hardwick the most impressive coaches for me, wish we had one of them.

Hope some other clubs can get on board if they do make more episodes in the future.

Surprised they didn't show the footage of after the win v Saints late in the year.

Mcgovern gets Nizzy ( WC CEO) to join the boys i nthe change room for a beer after the game.

I guess WC , GWS and Tigers were chosen as they were teams tipped to win the flag. 2 flopped and 1 won it so a win for that aspect.

Blues - A club on the rise but wanted to focus on Eddie. Was good to get some incite into how a a player with a family would handle the hub. Also we were shown what Eddie puts up with weekly in regards to racist comments.

GC - A club many would be interested to see how they are run as they have been a rabble for so long. Glad we got it as we got to see why Dew is highly rated.

Crows - Who knows why but i enjoyed see Nicks and Sloane.

I guess if a season 2 was done i would go with these teams:

Tigers: Just to see if they get the 3peat... as much i dont want them too but it makes a good story.

Freo: On the rise with a newish coach and young team. Could focus on Fyfe and see what makes him tick.

Collingwood: Biggest club in Australia.

Lions: Just be good to see Fagn in his element coaching.

Geelong: Chris scott and Danger focus.

Hawks or saints could be interesting with views from Clarko and Ratten.

then there's always clubs that will say No thanks, as Pies did.
(even for Richmond, there were no focus on individual players, not even Dusty, he probably gave the Don't argue)

Smaller clubs should GRAB the chance for exposure tho.

One team from each state seems to be the criteria to start off with (hence the crows)

Leon Cameron with his "come here lad" "over here lad" fckn belittling ok boomer shit ugh.

I’m only 3 in.

Dew is gold.
Betts is awesome.
Feel sorry for Cogs... he does not seem like a natural leader to me. Seems like a really nice bloke.
cameron seems like a knob.
expected more from Simmo.
Nic Nat seems like an amiable bloke.
‘Sloane seems like a really good bloke as well.
Looking forward to seeing more Richmond stuff.

it struck me it would be good to see some game footage like they are showing on live broadcasts . The action is awesome

Will Americans have access to this? reckon they would love it especially Pat McCafee who's' become a fan of AFL
I'm not sure how genuine that interest in the game was now
He was super into it when there was no US sports on, but as soon as they came back he's barely mentioned AFL again
Not that I listen to every one of his podcasts, but I do wonder how much of that interest was to get some new audience into his shows when there was nothing else on

3 episodes in...finding it all a bit Meh to be honest.

Eddie Betts the one with personality and kind of gives it some value. Love him.

Sloane, NicNat and even Coniglio all seem like really good people, but they’re boring.

And I don’t really get the Peggy O’Neal and Gale focus with Richmond. Adds nothing.

Not exactly hating many of the individuals, but just seems like it would be better just following one club around, like Year Of The Dogs.

I really liked ‘The Test’ so was keen for this but not impressed.

Each to their own I guess.

I enjoyed the Eddie Betts parts but they didnt delve into any of the other aspects of Carlton and their players like they did the other clubs involved. Wouldnt surprise me if Carlton knocked them back more access which would be disappointing.

I realise Eddie was the one from Carlton they wanted to follow but all other clubs you saw alot more involvement with other teammates and not just the individual they centered on.

previous attempts (ch 7) at mic-ing up players/umps..were woeful...just heavy breathing...

The tech in this doco should be the go to method if they want to make an effort for a more immersive experience again...whether mic-ing up a star player or ump.

(should prolly refrain from sledging hirsute ppl or the elderly tho)

4 episodes in, really enjoying it - impressed with how raw it is; genuinely surprised they aren't censoring.

Do think it would've benefited from only focusing on 1 club a season ala Hard Knocks - at times it does jump around a bit.

Yeh. The suns

It’s very similar to the football doco “Six Dreams” about the La Liga in Spain. Follows a few players, a coach, a sports director and a club president. So six clubs in total. I don’t feel they went as in depth with the administration side like six dreams but I think covid upset the way of things a bit.

I'm 6 episodes in and I absolutely love it, one of the best footy shows I've seen (if not the best). I even briefly appear during the Freo v Carlton footage, so that put a smile on my face. It feels like you're in the room with them and it humanises everybody. The thing I love about this show and "The Test" is it shows how much the game means to the players and coaches. You can see the raw disappointment after a loss and the joy of winning. I'd be happy to have a series made every season.
