Stephen Coniglio reading quotes from media bagging him and GWS they have printed and put up on their walls.

“We aren’t going to listen to it, we’re just going to focus on what’s within our four walls”.

Literally have printed the quotes and posted on their walls lol

I went to most Metricon games last year and saw this drone hovering about most games. Having seen some of the great aerial shots in this doco (partic behind the big screen looking at the stadium) i now know they were amazon drones!

Cogs didn't look great to be sure, but rather then writing him off I was struck by the lack of support he seemingly got from Cameron and the playing group bar Shaw. Don't think Cameron could have handled a young, nervous captain any worse, publicly berating him all the time and then dropping him to send a message no one is untouchable. Kept saying he would back him in but did the opposite at every turn. The playing group stuff was a bit weird, but might have just been how it was edited together, I'm sure guys did get around and support him.

As much as he looked out of his depth, have to wonder how a rookie captain is supposed to succeed in those conditions.
Totally this. Cameron seems to treat/respect him as a player rather than a captain. It doesn't look like Leon leans on or seek advice from Cogs like Nicks does with Sloane for example.

In a year where Cog's focus should have been on leadership and supporting his teammates, Cameron instead made it about him and his form.

It was totally unnecessary for Leon to constantly bag Cog's form in front of his teammates. He comes across as one of those managers who loves to be the one in charge and is happy to torch other leaders within an organisation to prove to everyone who's boss.

Hopefully, this is like the Amazon F1 series, where during the first series 20% of the teams chose not to participate but when the first season was so well received all the teams got on board and it just got better and better

Nic Nat/Eagles - very likeable character, club itself came out looking strong to me - ultimately injuries got them last year.

Betts - another likeable character, but should have retired a year ago IMO. Staggering he is still playing on.

GWS/Coniglio - Cameron is the way he is as they don’t seem to have enough hard/older heads and clearly Coniglio is better suited to being a support leader. It probably explained why he was so poor.
Cameron got them to a GF so he is not as bad as some are saying. Ultimately he tried to wake them up all year by being hard on them, but it didn’t work. Would being a softie have worked on this group? I doubt it.

Gale/Hardwick/Peggy - well oiled machine at the peak of their powers, they got the job done but forgot how close they were to the chasing pack at times. Hardwick obviously gives a very impressive team talk that is relevant and not new age connection rubbish for the sake of it.

GC/Dew - Dew looks a great coach in the making. Could be Lions 2001 2.0 this mob, last seasons wins weren’t a fluke.

Sloane/Nicks - very impressive, I fear Rory needs much more mature support though for these guys to rise up. Good leaders.

I'm blown away by the close quarters contests and the sounds, i mean how did they record the sounds of the players talking shit out there...(no full house helped...but still amazing)

I bloody wish they recorded Katniss Everdeen trashtalking Tom Lynch !!!

you're entitled to your opinion, no probs.

Now, at the time, it's until further notice, noone knew how long the break is going to be, not even world COVID experts.
But let's assume for a moment that the OK came from the top, from Simmo himself...that "boys...we're on a break, who the f*** knows how long....grab a few beers.."

Just for me, can't speak for anyone else, IF I was a pro athlete who's done a proper preseason to get in shape, I wouldn't suddenly get on the grog at the drop of the hat, just me.

So, assuming the directive to grab a few beers came from Simmo, then don't f**king complain about standards slipping:

Barring weird 4/5 day breaks pretty much all players will be having a few beers after the gameYes, even Richmond.

I think most clubs have gone away from the whole “team pact to have no alcohol for the whole year” thing as it gets broken and leads to players sneaking around. The benefits of a few quiet beers bonding as a team way outweigh the negative impacts. They’ve all just punched out 10ks plus.

Leon Cameron would be a much better coach if he didn't talk with a mouth full of pastry.

I don’t see anything wrong with it. I think your on your high horse a bit here.

Who else felt there was a lot of filler in seven episodes? Could have easily trimmed this to four episodes. I fell asleep during a few.

I shall rank each story for personal entertainment.

1. GWS & The Cluster**** that is Captain Cogs.
Engaging and my honest highlight, loved this.

2. Carlton & Eddie Betts battle with racism.
Story was far more engaging when it revolved around his battle with racist pigs, boring when the story was about his playing career and age.

3. Richmond & off field messes.
Majority of Richmond scenes involve small talk with Peggy and Benny and they were painful. Their responses to off field incidents and the summary of the finals was brilliant.

4. Adelaide & Rory Sloane.
Sloane is a very likable guy and it was a nice little insight, was there anything intriguing, would I watch again? Nup.

5. Gold Coast & Stevie Dew
Boring. Dew is a good fella, but boring.

6. Nic Nat & West Coast.
All I learnt was Covid backwards is divoc, divoc I wasted my time with the Nic Nat snooze fest.

how the F*** am i on my F***king highhorse ? how many times did I say, just me, can't speak for anyone else ? F**king read !!

What would your thoughts be if they showed a few Richmond players sitting around in the middle of a ground having a quiet beer together? Absolutely nothing wrong with it. If anything these type of quiet moments build relationships

before i answer...whatever that is...are you going to extrapolate it to I want to impose my ideals on the rest of the world or will you respect that it's only MY opinion for myself ?

I’m just wondering if it makes a difference if it was the club you support

tbf, I would probably fall into the trap of being 'harder' on Richmond. But if it's the norm now to have 1 or 2 beers, ok I'll accept, just thought no alco during the season was still a thing.

It’s a beer lol

A lot of stuff he says seems fine. It just feels the way he ends any harsh stuff there is a loss in connection with some players based on poor choice of words.
But only a perception I may have and maybe players get feedback they need. Guess time will tell in 2021. Jeremy Cameron, Zac Williams and Jye Caldwell all gone and wonder how many of the three of them , just felt they wanted a change of coach to get best out of themselves.
