You didn't like Sloane as skipper? Think he came across very well. Particularly when contrasted with Walker and you see the upgrade.
The game between the Giants and the Crows showed the difference between a leader and a star player placed in the role.
Sloane was constantly talking, encouraging his players whereas Cogs was just running around worrying about his own game

Isn't a President of a sports club a unique Chair position since it's more directly involved in operations and promotion doing things like making addresses at functions and conversing to the media, compared to most Chairs who are genuinely independent?

Therefore Peggy is basically part of the Executive within Operations so she does have to be more relationship conscious compared to Malcolm Speed who is genuinely an independent director and should be enquiring and stress testing as he does.
The COO is typically the head of operations, not the President.

Far be it for me to be critical in any way of the Richmond board, but Malcolm Speed was mooted as the next president after Gary March. If he was the best person for the job he'd be president. Peggy has been a great leader in her own way. I've always thought the president should be representative of the board, not THE board. Look at Collingwood for that.
That's not how it works any more, in this woke new world of Diversity & Inclusion. The best person doesn't always get the job, it's not purely based on merit.
Companies the world over now have KPIs and quotas to meet when it comes to appointing minorities, and this absolutely includes having more females on boards.

I'm blown away by the close quarters contests and the sounds, i mean how did they record the sounds of the players talking sh*t out there...(no full house helped...but still amazing)

I bloody wish they recorded Katniss Everdeen trashtalking Tom Lynch !!!
In the last ep with the Eagles v Pies final, at the start of the last quarter before the first bounce, all you hear is NicNat saying "Who wants it more.... who wants it more...."
I was thinking, how the **** could Amazon pick up what he was saying in the middle of the ground with a stadium full of fans going nuts? Were they using long range direction microphones from the boundary line? Or did they overdub it in later during post production?

It's actually quite common in SE Asia and wouldn't be surprised if it was the same for lots of Pacific Islanders as well.
I've lived in SE Asia for nearly 20 years. Not once have I slept on the floor, nor seen anyone else sleep on the floor. Not when there is a bed in the room.

And there you go Mr. International Businessman

Any judgement on a 'small snapshot' isn't a good judgement.
Interestingly, I also only have a small snapshot of how you operate, and my judgement of that has been pretty accurate. So I'll continue to back it.

Is it not obvious, plus it’s already been talked about that they were wearing microphones? Very common in sports these days.

Theres not a guy on the sidelines struggling to hold a 70m boom mike just out of shot.

Watching the last episode now, without Richmond, there is no conclusion to this narrative and this doco doesn't get up.
You do realize that once they collected all the footage they could pick the narratives. Sporting docos don’t always end in a team winning, sometimes they are more powerful when the team in focus loses. If Richmond hadve only made it to the prelim for example, They would’ve added more footage from other games that they’d cut to give the grand final a lot of air time and been less Richmond centric towards the end. Regardless the doco was too short to be focusing on 6 journeys, if they make another season they’d either want to cut the Number of subjects included or increase the amount of episodes.

Have you watched the seventh episode?

It ended in triumph and glory rather than the misery of all other clubs, cause all others were miserable with no redeeming bit of growth other than Adelaide winning a game.

- Eagles shit the bed
- GWS disaster
- Adelaide Rock bottom
- Gold Coast lost like 14 in a row
- Carlton, well... are Carlton

You NEEDED one triumph in a sport doco that followed 1/3 of the competition.

I do agree they didn't necessarily need Richmond
- St Kilda
- Brisbane
- Geelong

Could have had a great effect too, but by episode 7, you really needed Richmond or else the series would have fallen flat

Nah I disagree. That wasnt the point of the documentary. You cant select 6 teams and expect one to win. You can leave it open ended with the teams still striving for glory

So as a cat fan, do I really want to watch episode 7?
I’ve just finished ep4 and I don’t like what might happen.
So far I’ve felt bad for the crows, happy with the GC start, hoping cogs improves and Eddie is easy to like but not sure his game against the cats where he dominated and made a match winning tackle should make me do even a half smile.

If I watch this and meant to feel happy that the Tigers win a flag, the remote is going through the TV.

This has been a brilliant documentary, so well done. We have thoroughly enjoyed it, gave us a whole different view of some people/clubs..

Have decided Leon Cameron is not a good coach, his players are miserable, he humiliates them in front of others, and as for Coniglio, he is not captain material, seems to nice and gentle with no mongrel about him. We felt he got a raw deal from Cameron....in fact I had a few tears for him in the part where he got dropped. GWS are in trouble under the current coach imo.

Just love Eddie Betts and his crazy happy family!

Finally after all these years, the SUNS have got the right coach. Stuey Dew is doing a great job, his young players will play for him and want to stay. The SUNS will be ok.

NicNat reminded me of Nick Kyrgios.....love/hate.

Rory Sloan is a good captain, Nicks seems ok too. They'll bounce back.

Richmond? nothing has changed, still feel there is an arrogance about them, but you need that a bit to be a great team. Certainly seem to be a well run club. Don't like Hardwick and his smarmy smirks .

Will watch episode 7 tomorrow..

When NicNat is cleaning his locker out, why was there a farewell note on Vardy's locker? He was offered another contract..

That's a rough joke to pull if someone was trying to be funny..
Not if the bloke has a great sense of humour...

We didn't lose 14 in a row in 2020, but that's neither here nor there.

Sunderland Til I Die (season 1) is one of my favourite docs from recent memory, and that ends with them getting relegated to the 3rd division of English football. The docs about the failures can be just as, if not more enthralling that the ones about success.

That's a great one, the Leeds doco is great too though ultimately ends on a higher note.

That last half hour as a Tiger is just immense. I'm so proud and thankful for what Dimma, the Team, and Benny Gale have done.

Enormous respect for Brendon Gale back in 2010. YOU DID IT Brendon.. You ****ing did it! While the media and the rest of the football landscape laughed, he laughs lasts.

What I took out of the series is that Rory Sloane is a great leader.. I'd follow him. And Adelaide are on the right track with him and Nicks in charge.

Eddie Betts is a great human as well as a brilliant footballer, and very happy to see him get another year. His enthusiasm is contagious I wish him nothing but the best (except when playing us.. he often tore us apart).

Stephen Coniglio. This is difficult. The guy had so much pressure put on him and it seemed like his coach threw him under the bus. It appeared he had no support and Leon made an example of him. Not really impressed with Leon Cameron's management system, and feel for Cogs. Looks lke a guy trying to do the right thing, but not supported enough by club and coach.

Loved Stewie Dew.. Almost looks stoned sometimes, but reckon he has that connection. Suns are gonna be a force soon.

NicNat... meh, party on dude.

Richmond, and Dimma, are undoubtedly the Mercedes of this competition right now.
