Wow, patronising.

I adre say we are very familiar with the exploits of Mal Michael. Both on and off the field.
Wasn't trying to be patronising:rolleyes:
Who knows bomba4eva, for some it might be a bit like a broken relationship?
There were the good times but the means to the end can still evoke frustration even bitterness.
Others might say loyalty is the sum of commitment and obligation.

In the end should the supporter now fiddle the books to ensure a balanced ledger?
The ledger should be on Mal's side as he gave you his best years and whose to say he had wanted to retire when he did and was simply coaxed out of retirement by some good persuading by Sheeds?

As has been clearly indicated in this thread (but not openly expressed due to sensitive issues)... many people know the real reason.

It's one of the worst kept secrets in Brisbane. It's beyond the stage where it can be spun as "he was set to retire but for some good persuading by Sheeds".

As many people know the real reasons, the animosity towards Mal is due to the fact that he tried to spin his leaving as a result of the club not granting him time off to work on a charity which didn't exist. He then took it one step further by trying to screw the club out of an extra 50k that he didn't deserve.

Yes, you can go on about the "good service he gave the club"... but the club also gave him plenty of good service, and he screwed them over. Simple.

If he didn't go on to wear the black and red you wouldn't even be bothering to play the role of his defense counsel here... you don't know the full story, it's as simple as that.

I don't know the full story. I just assumed he was annoyed at Leigh.
Why he did what he did i have no idea.

Boy this threads confusing

To clarify: Mal had some personal issues that had nothing to do with the Lions (directly). To resolve these he had to move to Melbourne. Whether he orchestrated the transfer to Essendon is up for debate but the whole episode leaves a bad taste.

Rawhead keep those threads coming. Diversification is a good thing.
